By the way, what exactly was the problem in the first place? Too many threads? I understand how 2 of 40 trheads on the front page would be annoying. ESPECIALLY when there's usually one at the top and the other fading toward the bottom. I mean hell, that's like, both ends of the general page just riddled with NFL threads. What a travesty.

It wouldn't be a problem if it was one thread and one at the bottom. Its the fact there are 7 threads on the first page.

You don't see the problem? 17% of the topics on the front page are sports related. That's not a problem? Really?

edit: The only reason I have a problem with this is because we say that TV and Anime have too many threads when Anime had 3 threads at the height of its popularity in general and TV only had a few, yet we demand there be a subforum for them. Sports, which is obviously entertainment in the first place, is given free territory. If we had everything back the way it was, no seperation of general, that would be fine. But there is extreme case of discrimination going on here. Sports get a new thread every single game. EVERY GAME OF EVERY SPORT! It's like me making a thread every time Mythbusters comes on. How annoying would that be? I think that sports should be treated as any other "entertainment" related post.

edit2: While I have no problem taking the rap for being "the" person annoyed by sports threads, don't think I'm the only one, because I'm not. Me bitching about something won't do anything for these forums, but its clear several people get annoyed at the height of the sports seasons and every other thread has something to do with sports.

Normally I'd agree but it's only this way because of this thread and sonomaa's OP.

And yea, roughly 20% of the topics in a general board being about 1 topic is a bit much when you put it into context. Something that had like 7% of the posts was moved to a subforum.

The threads are also clearly labeled and if they're that much of a hindrance to you feel free to use alternative methods to browse General, such as thread subscriptions and the 'new posts' link you see at the top of every page.

Nobody has cried as much as you about the density of sports threads, and while early on yeah maybe you accidentally clicked on an MMA thread or two we're sorry, no refunds on your 6 seconds and two minute finger movements. In the end, you've accomplished nothing more than attention whoring and the biggest case of armchair modding these boards have ever seen. You hear me say that and you know it's bad.

Well, you see.. if you paid attention to this thread (which we know you didn't), you'd see that while every sport will get one thread, the NFL threads will continue to be weekly based once the season starts anew. So you'll get to complain in Spam when those threads start popping up again next season. Sorry. =[

You are correct about every other sport getting only one thread, and that's how it was intended. There aren't enough posts with each subject to warrant starting a topic every week, but NFL is extremely popular. Check ratings. It garners a ton of attention, so when Week 1 starts up, a Week 1 thread will be made. You'll have to deal with it.

A very large portion of the NFL threads are "NICE CATCH!" "DID YOU SEE THAT PLAY?!" "HOLY SHIT!" which basically translates to a "+1" on their post count and nothing more. Your threads arn't popular, don't kid yourself. But when you have 15 people spamming +1's every 30 seconds, they grow pretty quick. That being said, I'm not judging the popularity of your threads by the length they may be.

By the way, its already been pointed out that your threads don't really constitute a new post every single game. 50 pages of nothing but text is crap. I can point to several threads that are still around that are a seasons worth of sports threads in one length wise that the mods have no problem with.

Why you think that you need a brand new thread every week is totally beyond me. Why not just make a single thread called "The NFL thread" and go there when you want to talk about the NFL? Why is it you need to make a new thread every single game, all the time, regardless of anything.

I would take time to answer this if it wasn't already discussed in length (including the use of "NICE CATCH" "HOLY SHIT" etc, and how to solve the problem) with Sono. So as you said, that was discussed in length.

I guarantee that you never sat through a weekly thread for the NFL and saw everything that was discussed. I donated a large portion myself with my typical essay-like answers, so I think I'd know what's going on in the thread. Usually you have the weekly picks for every game, why you like said team, discussing the games coming up for the weekend during that week, and then when the Sunday afternoon/evening/Monday Night games come on, the game is discussed as it airs. That's why when people randomly check the thread and see a ton of comments like that, it looks bad. The fact is... you'd have to be there at the time to understand the context in which those comments were used. As I said though, we've discussed how to solve the problem, so that point is moot.

Comparing the anime situation with the NFL situation is a valid argument. At the moment, the more popular animes get talked about weekly are Toradora, Clannad, Gundam 00, Druaga, Rideback for a few posts I believe, Minami-ke, Haruhi (some), and Soul Eater, right? It's not like we have fifteen-twenty people talking about those weekly episodes with the amount weekly build-up to said episodes for the entire week before they air like there is with each NFL week. It may happen with some of the more popular shows (Gundamoo, CLANNAD, Toradora) for maybe a page or two tops, but not nearly as much as the NFL threads. Hell, we've had times where we had about ten pages worth of arguments/discussions before the games even air.

I know that you hate sports, and I know that you hate the threads even more. It's very easy to ignore things though. In the past, I've ignored entire ssections of the forum because it had something there that I wasn't a fan of. Did that mean I should have bitched and moaned to someone to "fix" it? No, I didn't. Heck, it'd be VERY easy to ignore you, but I feel that you need to get this out of your system and vent, so I'm going to respond to whatever it is you write. D: The fact is, though, that you already failed in your crusade to either put NFL Weeks in one giant "NFL Thread" or to move Sports as a whole to a sub-forum. Deal with it, bud.

You're totally missing the point Akiyama. I don't have a problem with sports or sports threads. What I'm having a problem with is the fact something that had 3 posts that was frequently on the front page got subforum death'd yet you guys can have 10 post on the front page and it's not a big deal. In fact, we appoint mods to take care of them despite the fact there is a sub forum for exactly this type of thread. It's obviously up to the admins of the website but I feel its horribly unfair that one type of thread is being subforumed for being "too popular" yet another isnt for being 3x as spam-happy. It doesn't make sense to me. And the fact is, you can think that all you want but I'm not the only person pissed off about this. I'm just the only one taking time out of their day to reply to you. Its obvious that people are annoyed by the sports threads or by the mistreatment of other threads.

Go ahead and try and ride your ego train for a bit longer. I'm sure you happy about your new mod position. But I'm willing to bet that people will be annoyed when there are consistantly a topic every week despite there being a perfectly decent thread from the week before.

You never did answer my question. Why do you need one every week?
