I mean, the NFL season is gone until September, that NFL transactions one is intended to last for the next 7 months. Lets count how many Fuck or Duck threads and "Guy fucks goose, hatches nest of mutant Goslings". Yet the problem is with us?

I have never had any trouble telling if a thread is sports-related by the name of the title.

Even people who know next to nothing about a particular sport would be able to distinguish.

And honestly where did the idea come from that they need to be renamed? Is "UFC 94 Silva v Silva" not clear enough? Is "NFL Week 14" misleading or something? They all seem fine to me. Sure every so often there is a thread made about a sports figure that may belong in a larger thread, but that is extremely rare compared to the normal garbage that gets moderated on a daily basis. If there's sports modding to be done I'll do it, but I haven't even seen anything that warrants it since I've been posting here.

This is absurd. I never visit spam. Please don't make me go there or to a silly subforum for sports talk. The sports related threads represent a sizable chunk of general and they seem to be appropriately titled for the most part. I just don't see the problem.

If not...I mean, no need to create new mods when a perfectly fine one (Ceph) is sitting right there saying "sure, I'll 'mod' it...by doing nothing at all since the titles are fine and nothing needs changing"

Well, people hating Ceph or his ridiculous bias aside, I never seen him post a whole lot in the NFL threads. I don't know about NBA since I don't keep up with it. The few times I was in the MLB thread, he seemed to be caught up into it, I assume that's his fav sport. I never seen him in any of the college threads either. If you are going to have a mod, find one with the least (noone is free of) bias and lurks just about every sport. Only person that comes to mind with that criteria is Akiyama.

But yeah, I'm more of a passive reader in the NBA/college threads since I don't follow them enough to know much of anything outside of my teams or what I hear on ESPN. I follow baseball religiously, and football to a lesser extent. Do I need to fill out an application or something?

My point is that there's so little moderation to be done that I might as well do it. Honestly, I've never seen a sports topic derailed horribly, or needed to be closed, so one could assume that all that's needed to be done is proper thread labeling (takes 2 seconds, rarely needed) and merging/closing threads (also rarely needed).

If the Red Sox Championship thread gets closed, it wasn't me, I swear.

Not much of a reason for me to complain since I only follow the NHL and it's only in one thread, but expecting one thread for NFL is ridiculous in my opinion. If there were more fans of the NHL on these boards, our thread would be a complete clusterfuck given the amount of games per week there are. But this entire thing is a non-issue until people start making threads for each individual team in the NFL for each week, then I'd understand that there might be an issue.
