That's the kind of thing people discuss daily, too. I'd say that sort of topic has a perfectly normal place in General Discussion. It really doesn't help your cause when you're asking for one thing to be left alone, but then you're condemning another thing, does it? Apples and oranges -- stick to defending what you truly care about.

Well if people feel that Sports should be banished to the privacy of their own sub-forum, why not start moving other "General" things to other subsections too. How the hell is that sort of story "General" anyway? I found it to be freaking weird, personally. I suppose it's not fair to banish that sort of topic, though. Also, I don't generally discuss that sort of topic over the water cooler, so you know. "Hey, did you hear about that 13 year old kid that banged that ugly alien-looking chick, along with 8 other possible guys who may or may not have gotten her pregnant?" Yeah. Not exactly a great general topic outside of a forum, I suppose.

The solution to the problem is for people to stop complaining. Now if people started making topics for every off-season transaction taking place in the NFL between teams letting players go, picking players up, or Spring Training MLB Week 1, etc... then I'd understand. That's not the case though, so I just think that the people with complaints should just keep it to themselves. Don't you agree?

Personally I don't care but now it seems like the argument for allowing more sports topics are just grasping for straws now.

What? Where was it said that we wanted more sports topics than we have already? We're just asking to keep the NFL Weekly threads separate as we did this past year, and not clump them all together. That and to keep them in General. It's not like we're asking for our own dedicated server or something.

I agree. Unless someone has the sudden urge to start a thread about lawn bowling because they love it so much (no disrespect to people who actually like it lol), the number of sports threads won't change.

I could get into semantics but I won't. My point still stands. You have effectively run out of arguments for allowing what you want so now you're attacking other facets of General Discussion.

I'm not saying you have to like the subject, but that seems like exactly the kind of thing people would talk about at the water cooler. All the time. Every day. That's pretty much what water cooler chats are.

In fact, saying that General Discussion is the water cooler of BG is undeniably the best way to put it. Some people -- like you -- may discuss sports over it. Others will talk about the latest episode of, er, whatever television show is popular nowadays -- is it still "Lost"? I honestly have no idea.

Meanwhile, I'll stay in my cubicle -- or in BG's case, I'll stick to the spam forum -- with only the occasional adventure elsewhere, so it's all good.

Well the thing about this is there really isn't any argument going on because mods haven't really chimed in since the OP.

yup, The fact that the Admins haven't comment pretty much says its really not up for debate. Only reason it probably hasn't been locked is because its allowing a place for people to vent.

You mean the 4 pages of Circle jerking? Yeah I read it. Alot of suggestions for new sports mod and a few Mods replying with 0 Admins posting aside from the first post.

And I should reword what I said earlier. I didn't mean "No one likes discussing the news of the weird." I should have said "Some people don't like discussing the news of the weird." Would that have come across better?

No, you obviously missed the logistical issues posted by the vague OP. Genuine concerns that even if we followed the vague first post, still leaves unanswered questions regarding other related threads. No admin has answered those questions which makes your conclusion that "it's not up for debate" pretty inconclusive. They haven't answered questions that will accommodate the OPs wishes, which makes it apparent they haven't revisited this thread or at least read the content. Many questions have been posed that will aid in abiding by sonokitty's wishes, but needed clarification, but they haven't been answered. Plus, I've never known or seen Sono leave questions/concerns unanswered.
