It was great fun, wish we could do it more lol.
Bit of backstory. We planned to do some SCNM farming yesterday but the maintenance resets all SCNM mobs to 4 hr spawn, we weren't positive of this cause it was just on wiki. Nearing the 4hr mark, were camping Onyx eye (last box we needed for someone's set). I encouraged us all to wait and that it was gonna pop at the 4 hr mark, people were doubtful. 9:00 rolls by with no sign of him, and then this happens . .

A goblin holds a chocobo hostage in Windurst, while the chocobo's mandragora friend looks on in helpless despair...

Eventually, the mandy could not bear the grief anymore and agreed to switch places with the chocobo. The chocobo was heartbroken, but the goblin wanted the mandy more and agreed to his terms.

Can't...
Stop...
Laughing...
That is indeed awesome.
This happens to me now and again as well, though that's a bitchin colibri and a hilarious icon replacement.
I'm curious if any of these computer specs match up:
AMD2 Processor
ECS Motherboard
Corsair DDR2(?) RAM
Seagate SATA HDD
Geforce 8800 GTS Video Card
I think that's all that would be relevant
AMD64 3700+ (Socket 939, Whoo!)
ASRock Dual939 Sata2 mobo (probably one of the better motherboards I purchased, it having both an AGP & pciE x16/x1 slot saved me some money two years down the road when my old 6800gt died)
2gb of some RAM, can't recall the type/kind, probably DDR1 given my PCs age.
512mb eVGA Geforce 8800 GT
Only thing I can think of is that either there's a chip on our line of cards that sucks once in a long while (only had this happen twice now, once in TF2 a couple months ago {which looked just as hilarious}, and here in FFXI today), or that nVidia loves writing buggy drivers.
(I doubt the driver situation since I have updated them once between my two occurances of this)
What bugged me today was that I found out the warranty on my card expired last month, and that I never knew I could have upgraded my warranty to lifetime for free on eVGAs site within 30-days of having purchased it, so if this is a sign of bad things to come I'm screwed. ;/
(note to self: check manufacturers' website when buying a hardware component next time)
[EDIT] Actually, now that I think of it, the Team Fortress2 texture muck-up was on my laptop, which is sporting a 256mb 8600m GT.......
I have to say, it reminded me of Tomb Raider 3 for the PC from many years back, since I could /force/ a similar glitch up by alt-tabbing the game a couple times and coming back in.
Whenever that has happened to me in the past it's been my graphics card overheating and/or headsink dislodged etc.
Weird that something like FFXI triggered the vid card error, and not say, oh, a modern DX9.0c game like L4D that actually uses my GPU which I have running at 1920x1200?
This is my bet really.nVidia loves writing buggy drivers.
Okay maybe a combo of the two.overheating
Thats not drunk man, This is drunk.
