I actually think people would find it more difficult now than back then. Back then games mainly consisted of "fall in pit... start over" and you get used to it. Now people expect check points and health bars (regenerating health bars at that). That game really is insane though...

I-No, Mildred Avalone, um, Shin-Akuma and the like could be a real pain too.

Though I've mentioned this recently, the only game that actually comes to mind is the original TMNT on NES, which I did manage to conquer when I was a kid. As that was before the wonders of the interweb, and that game was unnecessarily hard as balls, I suppose it's a good one to note.

Miguel from Chrono Cross, raped everyone especially Harlee.
Chak from FFX-2 was also a brutal fight if you didn't cheat with the catnip accessory because its petrify attack was uncurable and couldn't be prevented.
Also, Yiazmat in FFXII, more long than hard, but I never knew you could save midfight and come back to pick up where you left out (losing at with 1 health bar left and having to restart from the beginning of the fight FUCKING SUCKS)

If you beat this at the arcade, including evil Ken and evil Gouki, you are LYING. PERIOD.

Edit- You are lying even WORSE if you say you also beat Red Arremer and Athena in the game.....

Athena can just be chain-thrown to death. Red Arremer requires actual skill though :D

    I couldn't beat I-No in GGXX#R for a long time. :\

Also Yunalesca in FFX was pretty hard for me a few times, and that dragon/dog/whatever thing when you first get out of the tunnel and head towards Zanarkand. I was new to RPGs though. :<

Correction is correct. Any SNK boss usually ended up in an exercise of extreme frustation mixed with tears and the overwhelming feeling of futility. Rugal, I'm looking at you you fucker. The only SNK boss I never had any issues with was Amakusa from Samurai Showdown.

And what I consider to be underrated, Silver Surfer for the NES. That game is hard (but granted it becomes much easier once you memorize the level, still worth your time if you want to kill a few hours in an old school challenging game).
I think dam, near everything was hard on nintendo haha.

God I remember playing some game called "boy ans his blob"... ran out of jelly beans and your fucked.. didn't even know what I was supposed to be doing ... hard as hell to do anything.

I'm down to around 960 Prinnies left after that stage, is that still a decent amount? I have no idea what kind of amount I want to be aiming for after each stage.
There are different versions for the stages, day and night, the former being the easiest. You only get 1k prinnies, try to have a save w/ decent amount of prinnies just in case.

Btw, I hate you don't have control once the thing jumps, really fucked up and leads to unnecessary deaths.

The chess battle in Shining Force 2. I remembered it being hard, and I'm currently stuck at it on the 360. Also hard since you can't leave the area and find random encounters to level your characters, believe there's a set number of battles.

Most bosses in Legend of Legaia. It was near impossible to just run through the game for the story and beat bosses. You had to stop beforehand and grind at least two levels before most bosses to make it fair.

The Final Colossus in Shadow of the Colossus. Even getting to him was a challenge at first, but the kicker was trying to execute jumps correctly to get on his head, which he shook violently to knock you off. Once you got it though, it was a breeze.

I remember Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts being pretty hard too.

Freya from Star Ocean 2 and 3.
Immortal from Lost Odyssey... And getting achievement. I only beat him, no achievement.

There is more, just I can't think of them at the moment.

Yeah, playing on Hell's Finest mode and I'm down to 410 or something on the second to last stage. Wasted 50 just trying to kill the first boss and the twins again before I ragequit realizing I'd be screwed even if I beat them. God damn this game is unforgiving. Made new saves for each stage but I'm hoping I won't have to go back and redo levels to keep more.

Any idea how many bosses are in the boss rush-ish stage? I figured it'd be the 6 initial stage bosses again but the dude with the sword got owned by the first boss before the fight, so I'm guessing my assumption was off.

I think Prinny is one of the most brutal games I've played recently. I keep rage-quitting because some of the platforming sections and the bosses are such cunts.

The platforming is the worst just because of the lack of control with your jumps. The bosses so far haven't been too bad once you work out their patterns and how to avoid it. Up until Darth Moab I did fine on them all, only dying when I made a fuckup myself. But the 3 hits to stun them thing is harsh, especially when you have to redo the twins and have two God damn things trying to kill you when you have to hit em 3 times to stun them as opposed to once the first time. I don't want to have to sissy out into Easy mode but I'm not sure I have enough lives or patience to get through this stage and the last, I can only imagine how much of a pain the last boss is gonna be.

Definitely the hardest game I've played in a long time though, I think you'd have to go back to SNES/Mega Drive days or prior to have games that throw so much shit at you and are so unforgiving.

Jumping is pretty much the worst of the dickery.

Worst is the fact that when you go for the stomp to stun there's a split second where he does the flip that you just hang there totally vulnerable.

Can't count how many times a boss has killed me because I'm just chilling in the air waiting for the flip animation to stop and the boss kills me because it's jumping like a spastic.

original Ninja Gaiden was a pain >.> but patience prevails... I was so young playing that but currently the bitch boss is the one in NG2 on 360 the gay ass priest guy who wakes up the Archfiend the one with tenticles and shit. He's homo as hell.
