    Einherjar wing III

    Hello everyone.

I started my Einherjar linkshell 1 month ago. The linkshell is doing great so far until we reached wing 3. We keep losing to it and I don't know why or what is the mistake. We mostly have 36 members each Einherjar run, but yet we lose because of the time.

My question is; any tips for Wing 3? Is there a special way for Einherjar entry? What should I use for members set up, their jobs? Do I need more than 1 BLM party?

Wing 3 is really confusing me and I really don't know what do I do wrong. Please any helpful information or tips I would be thankful.

    Looking forward for your replies.

    Thank you.

You might be better off asking this in the event/strategies forum rather than here. It'll get moved I bet.

I thought it was someone reporting a dupe activity in Einherjar on first click ... haha

Sometimes Tier 3 can just screw you over and there is nothing that you can do about it.

Kinda need more information. Are you timing out or wiping? What mobs/bosses have you failed? etc

More bards, more cors, more healers. Rotate your bards for your DD. "More blms" is not the answer, "less blms" is more likely to be the answer. Make sure your healers have enough support too - 3 parties of 4xDD+BRD+Healer is not very efficient in t3 because your healers are at risk of running out of mp unless you get pushover mobs and a dopey boss. Aim for your DD parties to be more like 2x mage+1x brd+3x dd or mage+brd+cor+3x dd if possible.

Sometimes less is more. 36 people is nice, but remember that 9 DD with 6x songs, haste, and cor rolls will do more damage than 20 DD with no buffs and insufficient healing. Likewise a RDM with 2x ballad, self refresh, and evoker's will be able to keep their party going way better than a RDM with 5 DD and no support. WHM vs RDM is a wash as long as they're good and have help, I like WHMs myself. Bring a RDM/DRK for any tier. Get better sleepers.

One of the above things is the solution to your problem. Need more info to know which - are you wiping to normal mobs, wiping to boss, timing out before boss, timing out on boss fight? Unslept mobs running around owning you, mobs getting off a lot of tp moves before they die, healers running out of mp? All of the above (read: epic failure)?

Yeah... BRD rotation is the key. Will take some practice at first to get and keep the order rolling. Best to do this all times (even in Tier I) so that party leaders keep used to the system.

    Indeed

The bosses aren't too bad, most are zergable in 5mins... The problem is when you get 3 waves of annoying mobs.

How long is it taking for your group to enter and engage from the point you trade the lamp? If it's more than ~2 min you need to start busting people's balls to get them to move their asses and get inside. 3 waves + boss leaves you little to no time to dick around.

-Build 3 solid "melee burn" party, and have 2 brd rotate between them.
-Chainspell stun bosses when you can.
-Make sure to bring ~3 BLM who aren't afraid to cast sleepga 1 and 2 (and are geared well enough to land it). You don't need more than this, but going up to 5-6 doesn't hurt.
-Finally, explain everyone how they stay out of AoE...You would think everyone learned that in Kazham against mandragora years ago, but no.

Unless bosses are giving you trouble, you should be fine if people follow the above. You can have 2 tanks when you're fighting weak "12 monsters" wave to speed thing up if time is a problem, but 1 assist usually work just fine for us.

Best to develop a method that's good for the group you have. All the advice given in this thread and the other thread that's linked a few posts above mine is good to take into account. We had similar issues when our group got to tier 3 the first time. The initial set up we thought would work throughout all the tiers only worked on T1. When we tweaked it and found a better way of doing things, we learned all our tweaks were really only effective on T1 and T2. We pretty much had to overhaul our entire method of thinking after T3 owned us the first few attempts. Now what we use on T3 works on all tiers.

I can sum it up by saying if you have the manpower, just go in prepared for everything. I always try to make sure I have a couple BLUs (head butt, aoe flash and frightful roar spam), SCHs (crowd control, mass healing) and CORs (RNGs + COR and BRD buffs = insta-dead mobs).

Generally, I set up 4 parties with 4 DDs, BRD, healer. We don't do bard rotations while fighting the regular mobs, but I have our bards keep 2x march up on our melee at all times. I keep alliances limited to 2 parties to limit distractions while fighting. The last alliance is made up of crowd control (2-3 BLMs, RDMs etc) and I use PLDs to pull. We use WAR/NIN as our main tanks and they have to be fast with switching mobs. Some people suggest fighting more than one mob at once. We don't, but that's just what's best for our group's mentality. We still lose about 1/4 of our T3 attempts, but it isn't because of our set up. It's usually because someone did something stupid like wander too close to the undead mobs in the middle with low HP.

Last thing is that you have to make sure everyone goes in completely prepared. This isn't limited to just meds. People have to know what to expect from all the mobs possible.

T3 will definitely just give you a horrible selection of mobs at times too, so you gotta know how to tell when you actually have personnel issues or when the game just doesn't want to use lube.

Again, all the advice you get will likely be sound advice, but you really just have to take into account what your group's strengths and weaknesses are, then build your strat around that. That's the best part about Einherjar from what I can tell. What works for one group won't work for another.^^

DD DD DD 2bWHM BRDorCOR WHM

I was talking with one of our EMOs last night and they recommended if you have 2h users to give them cors, standard dw users are better off with BRD

the second character WHM can devotion, curaga spam, and r3 if needed, even cover healing for a minute if the main WHM is running very low on MP and needs to take a knee. Just make sure the second character is a main DD in the same PT. People are much more apt to cure spam if its their ass on the line and not somebody elses.

but yeah, like sept said, tier3 can just decide to fuck you and there is absolutely NOTHING you can do about it.

We roll with one BLM party, with a COR (me) to keep them refreshed/MAB. The rest of the alliances is pretty much whatever we can get, mostly fairly well geared DD's, 2 (maybe 3) decent PLD's and make sure EVERYONE in each alliance know's who to /assist.

Tier III's can just be a bitch, as everyone else said. This shell has been going long enough for people to accumulate 120 ish Ichor and we still have a hard time with III's when we get bad luck.

Just keep trying, and don't give up. Odin is way easier

I outline the strategy we used to do most Einherjar runs with 24 or less in the following thread:

An efficient glass distribution will save you a few minutes upon entering as well. Set it up beforehand and have everyone acknowledge that they understand it.

bard rotation is bonus but not needed or a "key"

a standard 3 DD(good ones obviously and 2/9 DDs CAN be DDable PLDs, if you have them, to hold or tank some shits like chairman boss) + rdm + whm + brd PTx3 and 1-2 PT of BLMx4 BRD + RDM/DRK is the baseline to do any wings in einherjar, safely

tweak the pt above or you can improvise brd rotation to speed things up, but like i said, its a bonus, not a "key to win"

thats 24-30 people but 1 BLM PT should be sufficient, making it 24 people to clr any wing 3

however putting setups aside, pray for easier mobs. YES I SAID MOBS. boss are walkovers. Your winning runs should consist of 2-3 mins MAX lamp distribution, 17-20 mins clring mobs, and leaving 10 mins for boss for a 100% win. Thats how i guage if we doing well and needed SPs midway into mobs if i feel we lagging behind

PS: im posting for begineer shells. Obviously if your shell can kill a boss in 1-2 mins, you shouldnt be asking for starter advice w

Thank you all for your replies.

The time problem we encounter in Einherjar is that we ran out of time. We always reach last boss, take it down to 20% or to 10% and then get ported outside.

As for the setups, we don't have members with SCH. We got like 1 COR and sometimes 2 COR, but mostly 1. We do have shit load of SAMs and zerg DRKs.

As I stated previously, most of the times we enter Einherjar as 36 member. So what do you think is the best setup for our current situation in Wing 3?

About lamp distribute, we do it like this; lamp holder break it into 6 lamps, each party leader get 1 lamp, each party members get the lamp from their party leader. I personally didn't count the time lose for entry. But if someone got a better idea for distributing the lamps, please share.

    Thank you.
