Because she refused to give it up?
As a teacher I have to say that I fully support this. I know I've had to call security on multiple students for texting during class and then refusing to give me the phone when I try to confiscate it. School isn't simply about learning sentence structure and how to solve an algebraic equation, it's about learning how to properly act in society. Bitch needs to learn when the proper time to talk to her friend is.
At the high school i went to, if a teacher caught you with your phone out, they would take it up and you would have to pay 15$ to get it back
If my school caught you using anything other than your textbooks and pencils in class, it was confiscated and only your parents could get it back.
Then again, texting wasn't all the rage yet when I was in high school. Fuck this modern technology shit, it's ruining kids.
12-18 year olds have the worst taste in everything, scientifically proven.
Eh, reminds me of what happened here: Student takes 4 fishsticks instead of maximum of 3 allowed, and the principal calls cops because he refused to put the extra one back :/.
You put fishsticks in a canteen?
Also girl deserved what she got. Schools need to be able to enforce the rules somehow and in this case she was probably being rather disruptive to the whole class.
Awww you edited canteen out of your post. I was just curious if canteen in Finland was something other than it is here or something.
A friend's prof has a simple rule about cell phones in class; use them all you want, but every time he sees one out, he takes 10% off your final grade.
Nobody ever texts in his class.
I'm at work so I can't use photobucket but "bffjill.jpg"
I'm more in favor of the read aloud punishment since that's what was classic for passing notes. Confiscate the phone and use it to call her parents afterwards too. If I ever have kids they're only getting those phones that come with three to five preset numbers.
Man life was simpler when you couldn't be discrete about using your cell phone, cause you looked like you were calling in an air strike.

Schools just need to go zero-tolerance on cellphones in class. They overreact to most stuff anyway, might as well go overboard on something like this.
school security? the fuck???
All 3 of the highschools around where I lived had School Security. We didn't even really have that many situations which the Security Guard had to be called on.
Did anyone else have smoking areas for students? My high school started phasing it
out in my final year. Not that I smoke, but I find it funny that they allowed students to smoke on school property.. I even think the teachers would go out there to have a cigarette at the 10am break.
I think that the disorderly conduct had more to do with the cops than the texting and refusing to give up the phone. She probably got loud, belligerent, and threatening. I hope she didn't get arrested just for a phone.
I hope she did. People need to teach their kids how to fucking respect. Most of the shitty crimes being committed in our schools is because of neglected or spoiled children. This isn't any different.
My kids aren't getting any cellphones until they're in high school. If I have to know where they are at during any single point of the day then I'm not doing my job as a parent.
I understand that people getting abducted, all that, and how cell phones can help you find them or have them call for help, but honestly people need to be teaching their children right, wrong, and how to properly act in any social environment.
Parents are probably siding with their child on this one. If I were them, I'd be slapping the shit out of her two weeks from Friday.
in texas there is a strict no smoking policy, i think you cant even have one within like 30 ft of the school or something like that
i got a cell phone when i was in 8th grade (im 20 now lol) my parents got it so if i ever got into any trouble or anything or was in danger i could get ahold of them or the police
