What do I dooooooo

[Mote]

You do sound great in the mp3s. I love Jason Robert Brown's stuff. Last 5 Years is my favorite.

Did you do I'm Not Afraid of Anything? That's my favorite from New World. Just curious. And good luck with Edwin Drood. I saw that one many years ago in a regional thing in PA. Are you doing the multi-ending version, with the audience voting?

[Ferien]

Definitely not a voice to be ashamed of.

Edit: As a bass/baritone alto's lament makes me lol.

Tch, Tenors can't make the room rumble. I wish I were still in practice though, I've lost a huge chunk of my range on both ends. No more low Bs for me ;;

Regardless, good luck with the audition, you have a beautiful voice.

LOOK AT MEEEE!

[Ashira]

Yes, we're doing the audience voting thing, for the person who asked.

update: went in and sang today, and honestly, did about as well as i could considering the saws and whatnot in the background with set construction, haha. I know I nailed the singing, they didn't have me read, etc.

They'd pretty much been prepping me for the last two days for not getting the role (telling me about the other two, they've worked with them a number of times each, etc), so I wasn't surprised or anything when he called me just now to say they went with one of the other girls. Already knew that was the case when it got to be like, 8:30 and they hadn't called yet. Just hope she learns fast, we open in under a month. :/

Actually, I'm mostly disappointed now because I really liked what they were telling me about how they saw a relationship with two of the characters and it would have been really interesting to explore and play, honestly. But ah well, I'm actually less upset now than I was when I was told I wasn't originally considered for the part. Heh.

Thanks for all the well-wishes, guys, honestly helped me feel a bit more sane. Hehe. I know there'll be more. Sweeney Todd auditions soon, and Miss Saigon later this summer. :D

[archibaldcrane]

Sorry to hear you didn't get the part, but you clearly have a strong voice. I'm sure another good part that is right for your talents will come along soon.

Good luck, been barking up that tree for a long time.

Tits of gtfo?

[kuronosan]

Don't worry Ashira. You showed them that you have drive and you did show off your voice.

I guarantee you they'll consider you for a lead next time.

I agree.

In further updates, met the new Rosa today - when they said age didn't matter they meant it. They went with someone who's in her early 50s, so they can really camp up the lines about her being the ingenue, the 'blossom yet to be plucked', and how the character of Rosa (this is a show within a show, so we play a character playing a character) having just turned 18, etc.

And she's REALLY nice and really good and i can't hate her. In fact, I talked to her today about studying with her, since i have had a lack of a voice teacher for many years now.

It'll be a funny addition to the cast, and she's already got a much better camaraderie with the whole cast than our last actress did (well, missing 2 months of rehearsals kinda makes that difficult).

I'm almost positive the correct answer here involves making someone a sandwich.
