far out of reach? I got the abj for my togi AND my togi+1 by sitting at the ??? and offering 500k-1m to every ls that came by for an abj. Took 3 days to get one for my togi and about 5 to get one for my togi+1. Hissho is solo'able if you have a chi build and a LOT of patience, though you'll need 1-3 others for znm1 prior to that. BB, can donate ks99 orbs to local HNM shells for BB items or just buy them.

I have a question for you guys. I have been looking at Genome's LJ to build up my MNK. Since i am building it up i am working on what i can get in the shortest amount of time. But his is what he says about togi: genomeffxi: Monk Gear: what to carry around as Monk 75 - Part 2 of 2

Basically osode sacrifices a little DoT for better WS dmg + defensive atributes

Being a MNK who atm only afford 1 AND plan on tanking i am targeting osode first. Is this information outdated? if so what has changed? Is there a place with more up to date tests? No i dont want a LJ with "The Best" gear cause i could figure that out. i just want to look at what i can accomplish now while i build up to that set.

You could try to find a linkshell who'd sell you an Enkidu's Harness. If you try hard enough you could probably pick one up for roughly the same price you're looking to pay for osode/shura, and if I had to choose just one full-time all-encompassing body, it'd have to be Enkidu's. Not quite as offensive as shura, not quite as defensive as osode, but still a solid mix of the two.

Edit: I just read over Genome's page that you linked to. There's some good info there, but take it with a grain of salt... it was written in 2006. Osode parsing higher acc than togi? Obviously there were some variables that screwed up the parser (it was a bones party, so probably issues with not getting blindna). If 10 DEX parses higher accuracy than 10 acc I think we all need to seriously re-examine our gear choices on every job.

Acc built for damage purpose is pretty much only limited to Einherjar+Merits, including lolbird. But them eating your food totally destroys the fun. In the end this concerns like 10% of what you do on your mnk.

But if you Colibre Merit with 8/8 h2h merits, you do Nyzul isle, and you do salvage, you need to eat meat and drop the usu hands and body and replace it with Togi +1 and B-kotes. I eat Meats in Nyzul and Salvage and Do consistant 1500 DMG asuran fists. Let me show you a Dream Set-up on mnk during the different situations.
1500 AF is only possible with decent stats unlock in salvage. And on higher floor you don't exceed 1k (typically gears). But of course you eat meat. People need to parse themselves occionally if they are the primary or secondary tank in salvage, you cap accuracy on floors 123 typically w/o full usu. 4rth floor is generally more evasive, but full usu caps you.

Nyzul is a real joke, of course meat, I mean, mobs are decent challenge.

Anyway full usu is not only the best set for damage on uncapped accuracy, it's also a tanking set. More eva (a lot actually), counter, haste than other good sets etc. You don't always auto-attack a wall on monk, you pull hate. When you do salvage/nyzul/dynamis, casting shadows less always means more damage etc because with this gear you keep the attention of the mob.

    Dynamis Xarcabard,Einherjar,Mamook Merit camp,Besieged,sky,sea. (acc/haste/TP Build)

    Head: Usukane Somen
    Body: Usukane Haramaki
    Back: Cuch Mantle
    Rings: Divisor ring and T-Ring.
    Feet: Usukane Sune-ati
    Hands: Usukane Kote
    Ammo: Black Tathlum
    Neck: Ancient Torque
Weapon: Destroyers,Hades Sainti +1, Shenlongs, Spahari, Glanzfaust. (in order of difficulty, but all 4 weapons are fine)
Earring: Hollow Earring, Brutal Earring. Otherwise, Ethereal if you got that Earring instead.
Pants: Usukane Pants to complete set.
    Belt: Blk Belt.
    Food: Marinara Pizza or Sushi+1
    ----------------------
No. Just no. With this set you get 400+ acc, you don't need more. Sushi/pizza would cap you on most mobs, wasting some potential damage. The only good food would be Rabbit pie, or red curry if you got a cor. Cuchulain's mantle is a big joke, I use charger, and it always did better, then I sold it.

Nyzul Isle, Colibre Camp, Salvage,Campaign,Assault, KRT Merit camp. (attack build)

    Head: Walarah Turban
    Neck: Faith Torque
    Ammo: Blk Tathlum
    body: Togi +1
    Weapon: Spahari or Destroyers.
Earring: Fenrir Earring OR Storm Loop, Brutal.
Rings: Uthalams (2nd best ring in game in nyzul, salvage, assault), rajas ring OR Divisor.
    Feet: Usukane Feet
    Hands: B-Kotes.
    Pants: Byakko Haidates.
    Belt: Blk Belt.
Back: Cerb Mantle +1 or Foragers Mantle.
    Food Marinara Pizza or Meat.
/no. If you tank you use full usu, no other options if you have it. Eyeballing, you only lose 20 attack and gain 1% haste, 40+ eva, some str..

    WS: Dragon Kick ...
    .... sucks.

    WS: Asuran Fists
    Feet: Usukane Feet
Hands:AF hands for boost then Usukane Hands.
Head: Hisso hachimaki (however its spelled)
Neck: Sea Gorget or Ancient Torque.
    Weapon: Whatever you got on.
    Ammo: Blk Tathlum
    Belt: Life Belt
    Rings: T-ring, Divisor Ring.
    Earrings: Hollow/Ethereal, Brutal.
    Back: cuch Mantle.
Body: Usukane Harimaki. Togi+1 as a second choice if dont got usukane.
    Pants: Shura Pants.
    Asuran Food:Marinara Pizza.
That's not how you use asuran fists. You need a mix of acc & attack, not acc only. Look :

    togi+b kotes+charger = +77 attack, -25 accuracy compared to your set (eyeballing).

Howling fists is very obsolete these days. Footwork with Dune boots Dragon Kick will almost always deal massive dmg now over 150 TP.
Howling fist is your second best ws. Ascetic F, DK etc are crap.

-NQ Behemoth, Dark Ixion, Fafnir, You would want to sub /thf and just dragonkick them for over 2000-2500. Most HNMS you would go /thf to and boost 11x SATA and Dragonkick. Or Full swing ZNM staff.
Man only being able to use a ws after 11 boosts must suck. Might as well come as another job.

You probably already know this but please do not listen to this and attempt to SATA Fafnir as /thf. If you do you will probably be kicked very quickly from your LS when Fafnir Spike Flails your entire alliance.

Don't listen to Gtype, his wall of text is a wall of bullshit for the most part.

As others have said, go for accuracy rings/ammo since they will do better than atk/lolrajas. I recommend having a macro with Boost that equips Temple Gloves, and WS macros with their corresponding gearswaps in another place (as in, don't do something like /ja Boost <me> /wait 1 /ws "Asuran Fists" <t>) so that you make sure O.kotes are macroed in for WS.

Nkote/Usu hands are heavily underrated. They are hands down, imo, the best TP gloves for mnk while focus is down, and in some instances even when Focus is up.

For Asuran Fists go with acc > atk > everything else; basically stack enough acc so that you land all the hits rather consistently and then stack atk.

Also, there is nothing wrong with SH(+1) if you don't have Togi(+1) or Usu body (or Hachiryu, but yeah), since you're going to want accuracy to TP in.

As for feet, I always prefered Dune boots over Fumas before Black Belt, and Fumas after Black Belt, since Haste gets better the more you stack it.

And last but not least, I personally use an evasion set (yes, you heard it folks) when shadows are down and I need to recast ichi. Maybe this is something I do because I'm used to doing it on PLD and Shield skill, who knows, but it has saved me more times than I can remember. Honestly, mnk's evasion isn't too bad, and specially if Dodge is up. I have a lot of evasion while meleeing (full usu) but when shadows are down and your timers aren't ready or you're trying to recast ichi, you'll be glad to swap it out for a pure evasion set (and it's quite cheap too!). I swap from Tiphia (Black Tathlum wru) to Fenrir's, from Usu head to O.hat, from Faith torque to Eva torque, from Brutal to Elusive, from Forager's to Boxer's, from Black Belt to Scouter's and from Usu feet to Dance Shoes.

    Hope it helps, have fun!

P.S.: tbh, try and Boost x12 and SA Full Swing Fafnir; if they don't kick you from the LS I will give you a cookie. lol @ that dude.

Been there before and after my Spharai and before and after the 2hander update. Only thing that changed since the 2hander update is that I usually pull hate after the SAMs and Gaxe WARs now instead of before them. Sometimes I still get hate before them, gogo dot? =D

    Or am I being wooshed?

Been meaning to do more in-depth testing of the trade-offs of acc vs. +counter gear but really haven't had the time to do it yet. Do you know of any concrete tests that correlate the increased hit rate of +ACC to the increase in Counters? It may just be placebo for me, but from my experience it is not a 1 to 1 correlation and I have always found counter to be more effective in maxing out counter gear for the straight % increase (not including HP/ Latent crap), rather than relying on acc gear in those slots.

For reference, this is my counter/ ichi macro at the moment - from my experience, counter has been more reliable with this set even compared to a max acc tp set when I get caught with shadows down. I would be very interested in comparing certain slots such as B. Haidate vs. AF1+1 in uncapped acc situations (Chariot tanking primarily), but if some solid tests have already been done under similar circumstances, I would love to see the results. (Hades on Chariots - Swap in Usu Feet after Counterstance macro)

Edit: For clarification, I am not negating the fact that acc does have a positive correlation on counter success rate; The question I am posing is in regards to +counter gear vs. standard acc gear in cetain slots for uncapped acc situations.

Doesn't need to be any big type of test tbh. Go to a mamool ja lurker with +0 acc on, pop counterstance, and tell me how many times you counter before you die. Counts can and will miss, provided you don't have the acc to back them up.

While your actual counter RATE may be the same, let's say you have 10 more acc, which is 5% hitrate = 5% chance more to land your counter.

Again, I am not arguing about the positive correlation between acc and counter, that is a given...

The point is for certain gear slots where you have the choice of +counter gear or +acc gear, at what point does the increased hit rate outweigh the increase in base counter %. Saying + x hitrate = + x % chance to land your next counter ignores the fact that your base counter % is a variable in your gear choice as well.

Taking B. Haidate for example, you would need to compare a ~3% increased chance to land your next counter vs. a 3% boost in your base counter rate from Temple Hose +1.

Maybe someone can clue me in, but in terms of tier2, I don't see a point to bothering with Penance really if you're only going to do lvl 1. Formless is something that happens maybe once every 3 tags for me in nyz, whereas, if I'm doing nyz, a full penance seems more beneficial to me. Invigorate is solid if doing really anything.

OP, though you don't do much endgame, if there's ever a mob you miss often on, you'll be happy to have the Optical Hat. I resisted getting it for awhile 'cause it's ugly as sin, but I'll never regret finishing it. Man, that item rocks.

Formless strike saves time for me in bhaflau remnants, on the melee resistant puddings, on th e bhoot in arrapago remnants and in einherjar. Penance is only good on a salvage boss.

good point. But given 20s out of every 3min of penance doesn't seem that effective. I'd say to just scrap the penance completely in this case and cap formless.

Formless Strikes is very handy to have available, but I really don't see going 5/5 in it being worth giving up Penance or Invigorate.

When I was working on meriting MNK and only had 1/5 in Penance I'd pop Chi Blast, punch twice, and it would wear off already practically.

Penance is good versus a lot of things, especially if you have several MNKs in possession of the ability, and can get a Chi Blast cycle going. Whenever I use it in Einherjar or other events, it's announced over LS for this very reason.

Having Penance, Angon, Feint, etc., all dragging a mob down -- it's a beautiful thing.

maybe I'm wrong, but I was trying to say that the first merit in formless is a noticeable boost, moreso than 20s of penance in most cases. If you can stack monks to keep a rotation going every 20s, more power to you, but having a full minute or more on one person's penance is a lot easier to make a rotation of.

If you were to say, go 3 penance and 2 formless, what is the dmg output w/ formless up versus 0, 4, or 5 merits in it?

going from 4/5 penance to 5/5 penance is going from penance up 80/180 or 44% of the time to 100/180 or 56% of the time, that's a lot better increase than 80 hp on invigorate if you do salvage or anything else you'd tank on mnk frequently
    5/5 penance
    4/5 invigorate
    1/5 formless
    final destination->
