The next one unlocked, and the last one we saw, is Painkiller, which affords players 10 seconds of extra health after they respawn – great for when you’re being spawn camped.

Other new attachments include a heartbeat sensor, thermal scope, and tactical knife.

In other news, sniper rifles can now be fitted with suppressors. “Run and gun” players may not like the change, but sneaky bastards like myself are all over it. Shotguns are now suppressible too.

Modern Warfare 2 Conference: Call Of Liveblog - Modern warfare 2 - Kotaku

Infinity Ward and Activision are, as you read this, holding a Modern Warfare 2 press conference. Not a press event, a press conference. Must be some good stuff in store. We're there, and through the magic of liveblogging, so are you!

- Microsoft will be releasing a special MW2 version of the Xbox 360, which will be black, include MW2 styling, a copy of the game and two wireless controllers. [Update - here's some pics of the bundle]

- And now we're into the game. Multiplayer. It's announced that there are new rewards for killing streaks in the game. 3 kills gets you a UAV. 4 gets you a care package with a random drop.

- New feature called "Callsign", which lets you customise your online account with custom tags, clan emblems, etc. This also lets you create a custom class with a custom weapons loadout.

- Moving onto perks. Creating a custom class also lets you load custom perks, including one called "Scavenger", which lets you get a full resupply from a dead enemy.

- And...now it's off to play the game, try out some of this new stuff! Impressions to come.

Ya'll missed some stuff.

New feature.... Deathstreaks. Once you die a few times, a perk kicks in. "Copycat", for example, lets you steal an opponent's class setup once they've killed you four times.

Uh, Dual Weild SMG's. Shotguns/Machine Pistols/Launchers/Pistols are all secondary now.

Looks like it, watching the gameplay footage. Only problems I'm going to see is the FUCKING STUPID RETARDED amount of snipers there are going to be with silenced rifles. Its going to be Bad Company mass wookies again. Which is a terrible terrible thing to wish on noobs.

I'm not too bothered about Akimbo or silenced snipers, I'm sure it'll balance itself out in the end, they wouldn't put it in if they didn't think it would make for a decent online experience for everyone.

Right now my biggest gripe is that they still don't tell you what gun was used for headshots. I really don't understand why.

Uh, just to let you know. Steady Aim + Akimbo PP2k's is a faster fire rate than a saw with doubletap. Its minigun/chopper speeds. Putting that much lead down range pretty much means if you're got the worse end of the latency, you lose.

Whats the recoil & spread like though? And I'm assuming you don't get the ability to look down the barrel of the gun with two weapons? And it takes twice as long to reload.

There are still down sides to using two guns. Rate of fire isn't everything.

Uh, well, from playing BFBC, and having seen the weapon fired, its going to be around the same spread as the P90, and less recoil. Its just the sheer amount of lead that will be going down range. Now, if they include this into the machine pistol category, well, then its not going to be much to worry about.

Experience Boosts Galore. It seems like you get experience point bonuses for doing damn near anything in the new game. I'm not just talking headshots; any stylish or meaningful kill is going to give you some kind of experience boost. Kill a guy just before he's about to get a kill streak? Bonus. Take out the guy who just killed you? Bonus. Get the last kill in a match? Bonus. IW says the leveling (which now caps at level 70) has been tweaked to take the faster accumulation of points into account, and you'll get something gameplay-related for prestiging this time around. They aren't saying what, though.
