How is party chat promoting cheating at TDM?

I've run into plenty of groups lately that will have someone join in "rogue" mid-match and feed our team's positions to the other team via party chat, call out blind/uncovered spots/etc.

While I don't think it should be worth of barring private chat outright during the game type, it's a massive PITA to be running a full stealth build, only to have people on the replay cam do a 180 from their sniper position, sprint down a hall, and camp a random door that would have no tactical significance whatsoever unless they knew you were coming.



(yes, I know, footsteps. It's different when the guy has the same clan tag as the entire other team though. That, and dead silence perk.)

Well from a purely social, and personal, point of view... that sucks. Only generally play with 1-2 friends, never bothered with any kind of clan so this pretty much dumps us in with the 'normies' =P

Party Chat was one major bonus to, and reason for, playing this on the 360 for me. My thinking on it is:

1) I like to talk total innane shit to my friend while playing (same team, just like to make fun of each other's deaths). I don't want to ruin OTHER's games by chatting with my friend during the game.
2) I have a DIY mic that is attached to my Audio Technica headphones, attached to a MixAmp so... no mute.
3) I have a daughter that tends to like to sing/scream random songs and just be a 6 year old within 'mic shot' (see 2)
4) I like being able to get 'serious' and not have to mute everyone, while at the same time having the freedom to not worry about 1.

I don't want to ruin OTHER's games by chatting with my friend during the game. Yes, they have a mute feature as well, but still. So whatever, not going to avoid getting the game based on this (to me) one drawback. I guess we will just have to 'get social' or mute the hell out of everyone.

Seriously. This has me laughing. I may just buy this game after all, just so I can laugh at all the crying retards who can't cross-talk and think it's a bigger deal than no dedicated servers.

Dedicated servers are a much more important and integral feature in online FPS gaming than some stupid cross party-chat shit on a console.

It depends on what side of the fence you're on.

I honestly don't give two shits about dedicated servers, considering that I'm a console player. No dedicated servers? QQ

No Party Chat is something that makes me, as a console player, QQ; and QQ I do.

It's not a matter of importance. My Party Chat is > than your dedicated servers.

I cannot believe there are still people complaining. It's like I said before PC gamers are stubborn and just sometimes refuse to accept shit. Would you just get over the fact that pc started fps games? I mean really. The companies don't care anymore. PC gaming has lost much of the flare it once had and companies don't cater to those players when they have a larger player base elsewhere.

And saying that PC Gaming is going by the wayside because consoles are the future is just as retarded as saying every other type of music is going by the wayside because Pop is the future.

The argument isn't the popularity of the PC platform (although make no mistake, it is still popular), it's that IW was a no-name company that prided itself on the modding of the PC community to support its games and help make them what they were today. They also said they loved the PC community because it forced them to innovate and think of new ways to enhance the gaming experience.

Now that they have a game of the year and an overly hyped game getting ready to be released, with potentially millions of copies being sold on opening day, they're turning their backs on the same people who just a year ago were their bread and butter. It's not a matter of popularity, it's a matter of principle.

"Yea we love you guys, keep supporting us" has turned into "Yea fuck you guys you don't own a console".

There was no reason for a dedicated server option to be completely removed from option. They did it because they want to make a move towards console format and are basically shoving things we don't want down our throats.

Imagine for a second, if you can, that MS suddenly said "Hey all of our games are now going to be BLU-RAY format so now you need to purchase this new XBox for $400 and you have to use our new PlatinumLive dedicated service because your current XBoxLive service won't be compatible. We think this will enhance your gameplay experience." How would you feel?

Or, imagine for second that your favorite franchise on the XBox made a move towards the PS3, or the Wii, and demanded on you a feature that is totally inconvenient to your gaming experience. Would you really give a fuck is XBox was not the key demographic? No. You're paying your share towards a game that you should have customized for your console experience. They don't take motion controls out of the Wii because XBox and PS3 don't have it, they don't take Blu-Ray out of PS3 because the Wii and XBox don't have it, and you don't fucking take dedicated servers out of the PC just because the consoles don't have it.

Simple as that.

Everyone complains, the difference is pc gamers have the belief that unless something is catered to them it's fucking wrong. Same shit with hardcore xbox users. Hardcore PS3 players usually already have an xbox, pc or both, and don't really complain as much. Save the fanboys. Difference for me is I don't care. I don't have the time to game as widely as some people. I own a PC and a PS3 to play mostly, online games and few specialty games that I've always been a fan of like metal gear and like cod.

When it come's to franchises like Counter Strike and CoD I know exactly how people react because I've dealt with both sides. There comes a point however where all the bitching in the world isn't going to change the direction in which the franchise is headed. If you don't like it than you stop playing. You don't say you're going to stop playing and then continuously bitch about EVERYTHING else that doesn't suit you.

Would you play an online multiplayer game that took out XBox Live chatting functions and made it completely silent? Would you play a game on PS3 that locks your HDD and Blu-Ray and forces you to play in SD?

I don't care about the game. It's called dangling carrots. They're specifically hyping this game so that people will buy it and then making it an afterthought to the crowd that made it possible. It's not repeated bitching, it's justified customer complaint. People want to buy this product, but not in its current state, so they are complaining in the hopes that it will be changed so that they can enjoy what they've been looking forward to. If it doesn't change, they'll simply buy someone else's product. Not everyone has $10000 to go out and buy every console and every game and every upgrade just so that they can feel like a company cares about them.

It's not astrophysics, you know.

It is a matter of them catering to you, see you're missing the point. IW decided for this game focus their development on improving the console style of matchmaking. NOT the dedicated server style that the PC users had become accustomed to. IW decided that it was better and more economical to improve and stick with a system of matchmaking that was, whether you liked it or not, a good system. Save a non-migrating host.

How can you seriously argue with them about using one system of matchmaking across all platforms to reduce development time and save money? I don't mean to come across as attacking you but you've gotta try to see the other side.

On topic, has anyone heard or seen if the migrating host issue has been changed? IE if the host leaves the game does it continue or does another player assume host.

One of the streams I posted a few pages back had a host migration mid-game and it looked for the best connection out of the people in the room then started the match back up.
