I wouldn't want a PC game where a controller is a necessarily superior solution to keyboard/mouse. I just don't go in that direction with my PC games, ever. I'd just as soon buy the 360/PS3 version so save tech headaches for games of that stripe.
I'd agree with this insofar as that there are genres of games I'll usually look to get more on consoles over PC, and vice versa.

Buuut, there are game types that are both more at home on a PC, and that benefit greatly from not-KB/mouse. Like, say, flight sims, or approximations thereof, that actually utilize a large number of keys.

Flight sims are awful with joypads compared to proper throttle controls/joystick. It's really a matter of comfort rather than something intrinsic to joypads.

I'll just configure it like Goldeneye

I agree, my thought was more KB/mouse vs specialized controller, which would include flightsticks or whatnot.
I mean, on the other hand, it'd probably be awkward to play DDR with a pad on PC.

Some things just "fit" better on one or the other.

Actually, one of my considerations has little to do with the controls. Quicksave. If it's a game that would have that, I'll usually go with the PC version.

No, you can charge it in your PC but you can't actually use it with a Play and Charge kit, stupid considering wired controllers work fine without buying extra shit.

I have a few joypads that have been lying around for years. I haven't found a reason to use them as of yet. I would like to use them for something some time, but I haven't been able to. :/ I remember I used one for FFVII PC when I was like...9, but other than that they have been fairly useless. I wouldn't mind using a controller, though. In fact, it might be preferable sometimes. But I dunno, PC games I play are primarily FPS and possibly RTS, so it might throw me off. But I can't really imagine playing Mirror's Edge on keyboard...

If I play a racing game I use a wheel, if I play a fighting game I use a stick, if I play a game that was designed for a controller, I use a controller. All regardless of the platform.

A mouse and Keyboard is usually meant to be superior to a Joypad on PC. Unless the game can be specifically made to give a fair advantage for both it can cause problems. Best example right now would be Shadowrun on the 360/PC. You'd expect to have somewhat of an advantage with a mouse/keyboard/hotkeys, but that's not the case. Someone thought it would be a good idea to give 360 players an auto-lock function that didn't suck and cause PC players to work a little harder. You wind up missing more than you should while the 360 player can own you without even trying. It's really unbalanced.

Hard auto-lock ons are fail, where the cursor stays locked untill you apply a significant amount of movement to one stick to look away. I always preferred the soft lock on types like in the call of duty series and Halo to a degree (as far as I remember anyway...) where the game just gives you a helpful nudge towards your intended target, and makes it a bit easier for you to follow a moving target with your sights.

Though it's really fucking irritating when you're sniping and you're lining up a headshot and someone runs past and completely drags your crosshairs away from your intended victim. I do wish they could do something to fix this.

back on topic: I voted "I'm good to go" bought a wireless reciever kit for my PC ages ago because it was on a deal with a game I wanted to buy, so I got it for considerably less. Have used it a few times, and was surprised when I found I can also use it on my mac with a simple change of preferences. Job's a good'un, as they say.

Any type of aim assist in a multiplayer game = shit game. That's why I cannot stand console FPS. Good job halo boy, the computer got you a headshot! Woohoo!

I absolutely despise PC games that require a gamepad. I have always had terrible experience with gamepads built for PCs, as I can't stand any off-brand gamepads in general.

PS3 controller is extremely easy to setup too, I'd suggest either even if you own neither console, you know they're going to be a shitload better than any third party crap.

Compact keyboard settings with WSAD keys felt more natural than a full keyboard. But it's pointless since the controller was done so well.
