Even if 7 years doesn't seem like that much, at least they were brought to justice. There's nothing in this world that can give those kids back all that lost time, but this is at least something. I hope the civil suit cleans them out though...

Unless I read the article wrong, the 2 judges in question only got busted for tax evasion and face 7 years due to a plea bargain. If there are any more active members in this conspiracy, they probably just got fucked and will be awaiting a harsher fate. Even without the class action lawsuit around the corner, 7 years is a great start on what could be a total of 10-15 years considering they go to federal (pound-me-in-the-ass-prison) rather than Club-Fed.

Can't really blame the stimulus bill for cutting schools and funding prisons. Juvenile crime rate has really been on the rise, lately. In fact, 5000 children in Pennsylvania alone were convicted of crimes recently. Need a place to put them all.

true but since i heard no mention of the people being let out of jail I'm guessing that they haven't been let out yet. It seems like a very important detail and the lack of it makes me suspicious somewhat.
Plus I doubt the judges would stay alive/unharmed long in a jail filled with 2000 unjustly imprisoned inmates.
I'm also wondering how the criminal justice system will even let the prisoners out. Have a retrial/mistrial etc? Is it legally possible to let them out before they have a bail hearing etc? If it isnt as simple as saying "let them out" then you have at minimum several hundred people to process.

The court system in that county is fucked for a very very long time now.

If these 2 judges, were this corrupt..... TONS of people they have put behind bars (even if they truely deserve to be there) are now going to file appeals.

Anyways, these 2 judges should goto federal prison......and spend some time with guys they put behind bars. If they make it out, hopefully they will be more fucked up than these kids are going to be.
