FFXI Original JP Beta, and NA Beta...

Nice beta pics! Thanks for adding them to the thread. I think your additions are more what the OP had in mind when he made this thread since they actually show some epic battles. I enjoyed scrolling through them and oh man does it bring back memories. I noticed some familiar names among the pics, even more so with the PhoenixDown pictures since your LS also migrated to Midgardsormr for retail.

Mizango, that's cool that you didn't lose your original character data. I seem to remember that the only service SE offered to beta players was to transfer your POL ID. I took advantage of that so I wouldn't lose my friendlist. The character data from Cactuar is definitely still there though. The first time that SE ran the Return Home to Vana'diel Campaign I heard from other people that their beta characters were available so I entered my info and sure enough there was my beta characer but he was listed as being on Asura. I'm not sure if there is really any way to verify it but I think most people assume that SE recycled Cactuar and re-launched it as Asura, which would explain the presence of the NA beta character data. I didn't bother recovering my beta character but it was still cool to see that he was there.

Indeed lol. Like I said mine is my mule and serves no other purpose other than to hold my money and my HQ signed Goldsmithing surplus crap, but yeah I still have my old friends on my friends list hoping they come back one day.

Damn, I miss jp/beta so much. Everything just had this new smell/feel to it, such great memories.

And yeah, GMs played around alot back then. It's in their policy now that they cant be seen in public unless their hand is forced :/

Im sure alot of GMs wish they could play around with the userbase.

They will if you ask them to appear. I had Luminious Dancing in whitegate with me before when I asked him to show up! But he used to send me tells when he was on my old server sometimes, so lol.

This is when I was reporting a glitch when the update broke something, I forget what.

I remember a group of GMs that popped in South Sandy, walking around with crawler costumes. LS mates also spotted them walking around the other cities. Not sure when that took place, though, it's been a while.

Damn, I am starting to wish I would have played that last day and taken some super cool screenshots.
I was all like "since we can't keep our character data, who cares?" and didn't play, looks like I really really missed out!

If anyone has any screenshots with a Hume male (Aldo model) named Tenshodo, probably not... since I didn't do much, please post 'em.
