I ended up maxing up AI hacking on my infiltrator since there was nothing else worthwhile and its pretty boss on regular mechs/geth since maxed out they have awesome shields. Doing legions loyalty with tali was awesome since we had a mini army of geth. But yeah, Incinerate arcing is cause you have an incinerate 'gun' but its helpful since often I was able to arc it around obstacles. Dominate is pretty useless though unless you use it since largely Morinth wouldn't pop it until the last mob and at that point why do you need a decoy.
Also really disappointed by shit being on the same timer cause its annoying to have both teammates get popped right after I use some skill on a ridiculously long timer and then sit in cover waiting to revive them. Ontop of all the other skill combos you could do if biotic/tech/combat/unity were all on different timers
Max dominate/AI hacking gives your target a massive barrier/shield, even on insanity it was rare that my target died before it wore off. For me, dominate was by far the best crowd control ability. Probably an adept thing, shorter cooldowns and all, but I was able to dominate, throw out a warp or singularity when cooldowns were up and dominate again shortly after the first one wore.
With Tali or Legion in the group it's like having an extra, completely dispensable squadmate wherever you go. I don't know about actually playing an engineer, but the drone cooldown is anything but short for Tali and Legion. Its usefulness would change considerably if you can actually use another drone as soon as the first goes down.
You better have been fucking joking.

why max out 2 ammo types? Especially cause armor pierce ammo/warp ammo are so boss? Also, your incinerate isnt capped which is badass for husks/helping conserve widow ammo. AI Hacking was the last thing I did after I had cloak/incinerate/assassin/heavy AP ammo capped because I fail to see the point of redundant ammo types when you can have an extra means of crowd control for every mission that doesnt involve collectors basically.
Because Disruptor Ammor works on Shields/Synthetics better than Warp Ammo... Warp Ammo doesn't do shit to shields.
Why wouldn't I max both?
And no shit my incinerate isn't maxed... my Sniper strips armor much faster than incinerate and since it shares timer with the cloak I don't use that shit.
You're fucking retarded if you think Disruptor and Warp ammo are redundant.
you get 50 points by level 30 so you have enough to max out 5 skills
That is correct, neither of those 5 should be AI Hacking if you're trying to maximize your Infiltrator.
Also, 51 total points so I WILL have max incinerate and 1 point in AI hacking (because Cryo Ammo is useless)
yea, for engineer the skill tree is like Incinerate -> Cryo Blast -> AI Hacking so there's no way you can max 5 skills if you just want a point in AI hacking, so fuck that
Why not just use AP ammo since it is better than both? Also, sorry much rather have capped incinerate since I dont like to waste any of the 15 bullets my Widow has and would rather just pop off 1-2 incinerates to drop armor and let my squad do the rest if I'm low on ammo. I'd rather have a skill that keeps 3+ mechs/geth occupied but thats just me.
AP Ammo does not do extra damage to shields or barriers.
Explain to me how that is better.
Also, you're crazy if you think 1-2 incinerates does anywhere near the damage of two 1-2 of the widow with appropriate ammo especially while cloaked.
As a matter of fact, with ammo switching and upgrades it doesn't even take 15 shots to drop a Praetorian so I'm not sure how you're even running out of ammo in the first place.
MY SHEPARD COULD BEAT UP YOUR SHEPARD!!
It's not that at all, I'm just sayin... maxing AI hacking because there's 'nothing better to put points in' is a fucking retarded thing to say.
If you want AI Hacking, get it, it's not the best option though.
Yeah, it doesn't do extra damage to shields/barriers, but thats a sacrifice I'm willing to make for having a meat shield/distraction whenever I'm fighting mechs, ontop of having to switch ammo/wait even more on cooldown for more essential skills i.e. Unity/cloak/incinerate.
I'm not saying incinerate damage is anywhere close to widow, but when I don't want to waste the widows ammo on shit that I can just help my squad finish off efficiently with Incinerate, i.e. YMIR Mech with half its armor gone, leftover organics, its alot more handy imo.
And it doesnt take 15 shots to drop a praetorian period, and its not running out of ammo, its having 2-3 shots left after a few waves of shit that didnt drop enough heat sinks and not wanting to waste the remaining shots on stuff I can handle with capped incinerate and my pistols until I get more heatsinks.
I'm not saying I capped or even put points into AI Hacking first (although considering you fight less mechs near the end of the game might be worth it) but after I had assassin/incinerate/ap ammo/cloak all capped and was handling the later parts of the game fine with that set up I put the rest of the points into AI Hacking. It worked fine for my insanity playthrough so w/e. I'm more peaved that you can't max out anything but Disruptor Ammo on Soldier if you want to max out a bonus skill though :\
My Shepard will out lez your Shepard.
Cooldowns on ammo skills are a second or less, who cares? Honestly.
That is not make or break. The extra damage you get from switching makes a lot more difference than the second or so cooldown you have to wait for.
Come on.
Also, if I want to conserve ammo on my widow... I just switch weapons.
Idk it may make sense for your playstyle, but sticking to 1 ammo type works for my soldier/infiltrator. I do switch weapons but I hate how shitty the ammo capacity is on the heavy pistol and how awful the aim/ammo spread is on the submachine gun. Honestly the sniper rifle is the only weapon I feel they did perfect, everything else leaves something to be desired, especially with the removable heatsinks.
