I never thought of Paragon/Renegade as what you gain from it. Playing Renegade just feels more "difficult" in the sense that it's more dissonant with the environment. Kind of like how being a good guy is more dissonant with Bioshock/Bioshock 2's violent, sinister environment.

I'd disagree, in Bioshock iirc you got certain advantages from not releasing the little girs. Whereas in ME2 you are at a disadvantage in certain situations by not being a renegade (fighting fullpowered Tarak during Garrus recruitment if you dont stab the guy, having to fight more enemies during Mordin/Miranda's loyalty if you dont fuck shit up in cs etc.). I think the first ME was like that because it was meant to be a lighter story, whereas this being the darker chapter and the paragon option often being basically as bad as renegade they want you to be morally grey and give you incentives to be that way.

You guys are not seeing what I am saying. Being a Renegade is fine - funner even. Making Renegade choices just takes content away from sequels. This basically means you should be renegade for everything but the hardest choices. Spare everyone's life if possible.

BRP is right, making all renegade choices in the first game can lead to the death of a number of people who are supposed to show up in the 2nd game, which will mean that a renegade playthrough of ME2 will just not include certain additional dialogue (like Giovanna Parasini, the Rachni lady, Conrad Verner, the asari from Feros-- and that's just on Ilium alone).

I would have liked to see the option of allowing you to Intimidate people to pay you for your services in order to make a normally Paragon output turn Renegade (which they did in KOTOR a lot), or like BRP said, have friends/family of the people you killed in ME1 show up in ME2 for revenge in lieu of the person who normally makes a cameo.

It definitely seems like the game overly rewards Paragon players with content, to an extent.

I guess I made the ultimate renegade choice at the end of ME2, at least according to my crew...I'll have to do another playthrough to set up the paragon choice for ME3.

imo I think thats them just setting it up for the movie. Cause obviously they need to find a balance for paragon/renegade.
Having a Shepard who is a smartass that backtalks and is kind of a douche but has a heart of gold is who they would probably have the character be in the movie.

At times, but I feel it varies on a case by case basis. Sometimes he's just flat out smartmouth badass like Han Solo(stabbing the airship repair guy, shooting out the krogan ambassadors fuel tank,renegade option for Tali's loyalty mission and other shit I'm sure), at other times I definitely see the fascist vibe.

In the case of the fascism, surprised all the Christians who hated ME1 never got up in arms over the implication of fascism being a functional way to save the world by renegade playthrough since the big decisions on Renegade definitely are fascist.

Finally got through the moving platform fight on the Collector ship after about 10 million tries. I strongly suggest the assault rifle training, it would have been almost impossible without.

Not sure why people are having a problem with this part, even on the harder difficulties I've never had a serious problem on that fight, there's hardly any pressure on you except for the collector general, and even that isn't too bad typically, just keep your head down to avoid getting hit by the Scions.

Just finished my Sentinel playthrough, favorite class yet. Used Armor Piercing rounds as bonus power, didn't level up throw or warp.
