i got mine today, they ship from CA and i live in CO so it will probably be there for you tomorrow. im going to buy this 100% once i get the money since the cerberus network code only comes with a copy of the game. <3 buying games from gamefly for cheap

anything i should know before playing?

well, technically they have 4 different shipping centers. Mine gets sent from Pittsburgh, PA, and that's a shorter distance :/ Though presumably there'd be more stops, so perhaps that's why.

Got it today, but the weird thing is, the disc already has a bunch of weird scratches on it when it should have been brand new. Not sure how exactly the disc got scratched that much going from it's original box to gamefly's shipper. Hopefully it'll work okay. installation's going good so far.

Despite the AI, you want Miranda any time your squad plans on shooting stuff since she gives you bonus damage just by being there.
Infiltrator+Miranda and the right skill setup/weapons means 1-shotting damn near everything that isn't a huge mech or a boss with a well-placed shot and cloaking.

You don't really need to think much for Mass Effect 2. It is an easy game and when it comes to the hardest parts on the hardest difficulty(at least for all but one or two classes) they will effect you the same way - stay in cover as you recover health against enemies which can get you into red really fast. You will probably want to aim to have one anti-shield and one anti-armor guy(or two drone using engineers which will put up a constant tank for you), but even then you just pick whoever you want for storyline relevancy(very, very rarely matters) or just looks. Needless to say the combat is pretty stale.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I don't think I ever used "revive" in the game. There are times where you might not even want to because your teammates will be so hopelessly in that it is either keep them dead or tell them to stand in the back of the room before the enemies spawn (this is basically concerns the two giant robots at once fights or even worse certains parts on the certain alien ships). If you leave them in the back of the room you can still use their abilities lol(so drones rule the two giant robot fight). (Also having extra medigel means more credits... if only a few more... and money in the game becomes quite scarce towards the end)

Does armor choices really matter? I downloaded the DLC bundle and chose to mix-and-match, but what are some standouts (if any)?

Some armour is really good, like the ones that increase headshot damage, lower ability timers or increase shield regen.

oh god the loading here sucks, i'm playing on insanity and because u die quick it makes the loading more painful and anoying. So far the sound sync for me is good.

I got an email today, "welcoming me to Mass Effect 2", thanking me for purchasing the game and registering it.

The problem is is that I didn't do any registering for mass effect 2 on the ps3, or on the bioware website. I registered for the bioware/EA website, but that was just for dragon age extras.
Did the game register itself through my ps3?

What class did you pick? There are certain ones that just suck for it, although you can pretty much complete the game on insanity with any of them.

Pretty sure you'll get curbstomped on any class at the start on your first playthrough. I did my first run on Adept (Insanity of course) and was dying in 2 seconds at the start of the game. By the end I didn't give a fuck about using cover and was rushing bitches down and throwing out biotics every 2 seconds and not dying at all. Adept is supposed to be one of the worst for it so... that's just how it goes.
