The BioWare forums are being flooded with fan outcry over non-working downloadable content codes, Cerberus Network congestion, and helmet issues. If you've got problems, we have a few solutions, courtesy of BioWare's Chris Priestly.

The gaming masses attempting to take their first steps in Mass Effect 2 for the Xbox 360 and PC today have run into several issues with the game, mainly surrounding the downloadable content offered via the Cerberus Network, BioWare's in-game DLC delivery system. The Cerberus Network is a nifty way for Mass Effect players to access downloadable content without taking themselves out of the game, but right now it looks like more trouble than it's worth.

Players are reporting non-working GameStop Cerberus access codes, problems activating the network once they've entered their codes, and, in the case of the PC version, issues connecting to the network at all.

Chris Priestly has addressed many of these issues in a helpful message, recently posted on the BioWare forums. We've posted Priestly's helpful suggestions for those having issues below, as the forums are likely to explode if this keeps up.

One issue brought to our attention is not addressed in the forum topic, mainly because there isn't much that can be done about it. Some fans are outraged over the fact that the special armors in the game do not feature removable helmets. The situation is getting particularly heated in this forum thread, sent to us by Kotakuite Dorikin, in which players call for the termination of whoever made the decision to not include a helmet toggle feature.

Having watched my Shepard down several alien drinks directly into her Blood Dragon helmet, I suppose I can see their point.

While this is an important issue to some, I'd say we should let BioWare concentrate on getting the DLC working first. After that's out of the way, maybe we can do something about helmet removal, after which we can rally against the company for not including helmet hair.

How can you tell if you are Cerberus Enabled:
When you start Mass Effect 2, there are two computers on the main menu. The computer on the right hand side of the screen should be open. If it is not then check to see that you've entered your Cerberus Code in the account creation screens located in game.

PC Collector's Edition Issues :
We're aware that some PC Collectors' Edition Cerberus Codes are not working. If you have the number 1688108 on the bottom right of your Cerberus Network card and have not associated it to your EA Online account at 4:00 PM PST your codes will be fully functional. If you already have associated it to your EA Online account at 6:00 PM PST you can restart the game and your Cerberus Account will be available automatically!

Zaeed :
Some of you may be looking for Zaeed as a way to check your Cerberus Account. Zaeed is being propagated to Xbox Live as we speak and will be available mid day tomorrow (MST).

Timeouts:
Some users are reporting timeouts or connection drops to Cerberus Network. We are actively pursuing a fix to this and will update everyone once it is fixed on the server-side.

General Cerberus Issues:
If you've entered your Cerberus Activation Code through the web interface and have played other EA Games with EA Online accounts but are not seeing the Cerberus Mission Computer open on the main menu. You'll need to contact EA's Customer service line to ensure that the Gamer Tag in Xbox Live is associated with your EA Online account you've used to activate Cerberus.

so i used my cerbereus code redemption online through the website but then i was prompted to do it again on first load up and it didnt work. is this gonna be a problem?

I ended up having to buy another cerberus code. All my other DLC codes worked fine, but the system ate my cerberus network code. Soon as I bought it though, all my DLC for that showed up. Oh well. ME was worth $75. ($15 in points for the code+the CE)

Wow did they improve on every nitpick I had with ME1. Hopefully the rest of the game continues to deliver.

In other words. If you thought ME1 was kinda iffy on controls, pick up this one, nearly everything is perfect.

..Except hacking codexes makes my eyes bleed.

So a friend of mine who works at a game shop near me just gave me a Terminus Armor code, but I won't be getting the game until Friday, does anyone know if I'm ok to download the amor to my 360 now or do I have to download it via the Cerberus network a la Dragon Age?

asdfs. While not quite MAKO style, I do hate the probing for materials system.
of course, I overdid it like hell, when the game was over and I had done pretty much everything, I had like 100k eezo, and 350k+ of all the others left, horrendous waste of time, serves me right I guess.
I was very surprised at how short the main story was. Felt almost like an interlude.

I lost the salarian, I didn't even notice him go down, and wondered what on earth when I didn't get the "save all" prompt. I am fairly sure I did everything that could be done with him, and got almost all upgrades. Can they die anyway? do you need 100% upgrade completion to save all?

Pretty sure loyal members can die if you assign them to certain tasks. I lost Thane when I sent him through the vents and it wasn't even in the vents themselves. He screwed something up trying to close the door and ended up taking a rocket to the face.

How does New Game+ work? (never bothered with it in the first game). My first run through is what I would most likely want to run with(or at least a save of it for whatever DLC that might come out). I imagine if I did play this game again, it would be with different class, alignment, characters, etc.

Concerning the final mission (which I haven't completed so don't spoil the whole thing)

What decides if someone dies in a cutscene? I imagine you need to pick the right characters for the task, but anything else? Like which skills they have leveled? Also is the Normandy suppose to crash at the very end? I am almost sure I have every upgrade - if I don't it might be because of a "Mass Effect" generator.

Also Tali's sex scene is bullshit. I just want to see her face. Because they passed it up on what would have been great scene, I get the feeling we will NEVER see a quarian's face.

Other thoughts:

Joker is actually hilarious in this one. Best thing Green has done. "Shit!..... shit!shit!shit!shit!" Actually the whole game has some great jokes. Like if Shepard tells someone she shouldn't throw her life away with a suicidal order, the teammates bring up their life under Shepard.

Game was able to be spooky, reminds me of Halo 1 with better music. Anytime you board truly alien ship you know shit is about to go down.

I just downloaded all the DLC (blood dragon armor, collectors armor/rifle, storm gear, and Zaeed) I had no problems whatsoever. I have it on PC if it makes any difference.

That's odd, you sure he was loyal? Maybe the person you choose to lead the fire team can affect whether or not the people under their command die. I sent Garrus both times, what with his experience on Omega and all. Everyone was fine.

BRP; New game+ retains your level and skills, allows you to pick one bonus skill from your loyal teammates (same as the research; not in addition to it) and gives you a ton of bonus material. 50k of each resource and 200k credits. You're forced into the same class though, which I thought was pretty lame.

As for the final mission...

The Normandy does crash regardless of upgrades. As for what decides who dies, I can't be entirely sure, but I don't think the skills they have leveled matters. I think they just throw in some choices that aren't quite fit for the job in each scenario (Especially the escort and fire team leaders) but again I can't be entirely sure.

New Game+: You start with your level and skillset from previous playthrough, a sum of credits and a bit of materials. You get to choose one ability from the loyals unlockable abilities. Stuck in the same class though .

My ship crashed as well on the collector base, I had every ship upgrade I beileve.

I stayed faithful to Ashley through the game despite her dumping me, giving me a sob cs instead of the normal sex cs. That shit better pay off in DLC or PS3.
