dunno try putting him into your party if he keeps dying. Maybe gotta kill the terminator faster. Could be some hidden countdown timer who knows. I had miranda and tali in for the final fight.

Could be like how in ME1, when you picked squad members they showed a party str graph. Maybe need to have some balance there based on your class. So vanguard would need a tech person with them perhaps.
I had combat and bio, miranda is tech and bio, and tali is all tech so prob balances out somehow. Dunno lol, I just picked my fav for the last fight and no one died.

    Someone did this setup

    Spoiler: show

So I loaded my save that had my ship parked on the Omega 4 relay and gave this another shot.

    It went like this:

    First go:
    Specialist: Legion
    Second Group Leader: Garrus
    Personal Group: Samara and Grunt

My lost member always got shot at the door when they were trying to push it shut. I figured having Grunt would help, but as it turns out Garrus is the key. Unlike Samara as the other leader, he brought his group over to help us at the door.

    Second go:
    Escort: Mordin
    Specialist: Jack
    Second Group Leader: Garrus
    Personal Group: Miranda and Legion

Mordin I figured was a good candidate to watch the crew because that is what he did on Omega. He protected the weak with overpowering force against the enemy. Also, he is a scientist/doctor thing so having him on board our broke ass ship with hurt people made sense. The secondary team for this part was designed to "distract" and that is all Garrus did on Omega as well. As for protecting my group, we needed a strong Biotic. Who else but the ever powerful Subject Zero? Miranda and Legion are great because Miranda increases the entire sqaud's damage ratings, and Legion (if you got his upgrade) has a ridiculusly overpowered rifle which shreds through that panzy Harbinger (especially when paired with Miranda).

    Final Go:
    Personal Group: Miranda and Legion

Choose to have a back team to defend the rear. Again, Miranda and Legion make a great Harbinger killing team. Not to mention Legion's sniper is good against armor, and that is all that the final boss is.

    With this setup everyone survived.

I'm pretty sure I said 'there must be another way' in that last part, and only THEN did my teammates suggest holding the gate for distraction... I'll try that setup when I get there again and choose to hold down the door, maybe this time everyone will be saved..

The cliche sci-fi at work here is amazing. A knock off of the Ansible and a goddamn scotsman for an engineer.

    Loving every minute of it.

didn't see if it was in the thread earlier, but if i beat the game can i new game+ it with all my stuff from a previous save and a different class?

also: didn't play ME one before but paragon and renegade don't have any effect on each other right? i'm used to stuff like this going one way or the other, but not both.

Im sure some some butt hurt will come out of this, but I had to agree with this critique.

The BioWare RPG Formula: It's time to change things up a little for us role-playing game fans, BioWare. Continuing a trend established in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and present in just about every other BioWare RPG since (Jade Empire, Dragon Age, Mass Effect), you gather companions, each of which eventually pull you off to the side to describe their personal issues to you, giving you a chance to delve deeper into their backstory via a special quest or mission. Perhaps it's time to change things up. Let players stumble onto character-specific quests, rather than having each of your party members hit you up for aid at the designated time. The feature was charming the first few times through, but a little variety wouldn't hurt.

For the people on a NG+ do you keep your advanced weapon spec or do you have to get that point in the game again?

I agree, but it is what works for them. To be fair, the combat and "inventory" are so much better this time around, it really feels like a different game. I really don't care about the inventory changes, I ended up turning 97% of the shit into Omni gel anyway. This is a lot easier, and a welcome change. The game overall feels a hell of a lot more polished. I'm not saying you're wrong with your Bioware stuff, but look at the Final Fantasy series, they're pretty much all the same aside from a different story and sometimes different combat. All these God of War/Darksiders/Metroid/item collecting games are the same. Start out with all your super powers, get stripped of them and then you go find better powers. It's a tired formula. Personally as long as the story is good, and engaging I will take that format every time. There aren't too many new ways to do things. I can't really imagine a Bioware game any other way, it's really their thing. Nobody else tries to do it. That upcoming spy game looks like it will try it out, we'll see how good that is.

You keep it. Whether you get a new one when you get back to that point, I can't say.

Speaking of NG+, insanity is ridiculous. Everything, and I mean everything has either shields or armor. Even varren have armor. I feel so inadequate as an adept.

I know your trying to pinpoint some of the improvements on ME 2, but the section I quoted wasnt about just ME 2 and how its improved. It's about the dynamic of their RPG's and how essentially their streamlined and pretty much the same with very little variety. Does this make them bad games? No way, it just seems like at some point they should venture into a new dynamic and do things a little different.

I was agreeing with the persons critique and its spot on.

Also to add GOW, yes the first one did the pull powers away and regain them, the second however did not and the third one isnt either. But I understand the generalization you were trying to point out.

Just a note, started my asshole playthrough and because I beat the game I got:

    200k credits
    and 50k of each element.

This is on a new character, along with 150% XP this shit is easy. You get it for getting the long service medal.

You're also fucked for paragon renegade if you play like I do. Getting the 4th level "unique" power for sheppard the first time about midway through let me max paragon long before I had to deal with Miranda and Samara (and the spoilers I don't want to tag.) That said I tend to mix it up since either all-evil or all-good playthroughs aren't fun considering some of the decisions (read: council, rachni, etc.,) so I end up (usually) with 1/2 a paragon bar and 1/4 of a renegade bar.

    It's annoying.

(I did try retraining, but that seems to have had no effect.)

So I got to sit down and play all night last night because our staff meeting was cancelled. I'm only about six hours in so far. I snagged Jack, Grunt, and Varrus. The crew I've been running with is Shephard, Miranda, and the dlc merc. So far the only trouble I really have is the mission where you need to activate something and then fight through multiple waves of people to activate the other things. And even then it's not that bad.

I'm torn between the planet scanning. I love the fact that Bioware made even the little planets able to have at least a few minutes of content. Even if it's just scanning their entire surface for materials. But I'm also a little irritated with how slow and tedious it goes. I was already able to upgrade my scanner, ship armor, and guns on the Normandy. I'm assuming after each checkpoint in the story new upgrades are going to become available? I also can't fucking stand having to buy fuel. I think that's just fucking stupid.

All in all I'm having a blast playing. The story is interesting enough to keep me occupied. The side missions and content are just little bonuses for me. I'm giving it 9.5.

    new upgrades are available:
from the allies you pick up (one per)
    from upgrades you find/buy.

my first playthrough I spent hours and hours mining, had a gazillion of everything left when I did everything.
On my second playthrough, I'm now mining as I go along, clear out a system when I visit it for a purpose and need the resources, taking care to not scan planets I don't know for sure there is stuff on, so the system will keep track of which ones I haven't emptied yet for me.

So I'm assuming that I should continue scanning systems as I clear them then. When I visited the Normandy site the scan came up with the anomaly. Are there any other planets out there that have anomalies on them? So far I've only come across one other planet I could actually land on(the one where Aria says there's a cache on.)

I think I found at least one per cluster, but please don't quote me on that. I was a little disappointed by the lack of small sidequests like that, but I, per definition, don't know what I haven't found.
