I didn't realize that after you get the Reaper IFF and those little bastards kidnap your crewmates you have to go immediately to rescue them. I ended up exploring every planet and doing every sidequest and when I finally went to rescue them all of them had been eaten except for Dr Chakwas. Damn it all to hell.

So I have a question to the people who have completed it.

When you talk to the Illusive man about the attack on Horizon, You get no option to continue exploring before going, you talk to the illusive man, and you go straight to Horizon.
This has had me a little worried, I'm still collecting the second set of dossiers and I'm worried that it could happen again and I won't be able to do the side quests before the end of the game if I get all of the dossiers.
Can anyone tell me if a point of no return happens automatically? Or will I be given a choice to finish the game or just continue with side quests?

Once you beat the storyline they let you go back and do your other missions after the credits, which may only be possible if you survive the storyline? not sure.

But the game makes sure you don't accidentally go through the final part without you confirming it twice.

Achievements for this game seem easier than most games out there(not including the avatar cartoon game).

1015/1015 will only take 2 playthroughs.

As for ME2, haven't had as much time to play as I'd hoped, so I'm not much of anywhere, but as awesome as the game is, it's sort of off-putting how nonchalant people are about Shepherd being one step removed from a zombie.

Most post last night that touched on this was eaten before I went to bed and I couldn't be bothered. I like the male Sheppard's voice well enough, but his lack of emotions are a serious offput at times. I've been extremely tempted to make a femshep to play around with since I just finished my playthrough that I'd be happy to bring over to ME3.

Also ME2's love choices were actual... choices. In the first one I couldn't get the space-nazi-christian killed fast enough and Liara was too much of a pacifist for me to like well.

At least with ME2, Tali and Miranda make interesting choices. Tali was loyal to you from the first game and the attraction was always there from the dialog. After the flotilla her reaction to saving her (and her father's name) leave her in awe and near speechless. It's something that grew over time and I appreciate that. With that said, Miranda is the exact right version of a woman in my opinion. Smart, smartass, yet still very charming. Her attitude is perfect and tends to make the right comments in the right places, she keeps her cool and is deadly [figuratively and literally.] The choice between Tali and Miranda is honestly hard since I actually like the romance options in ME2.

That said I'll go for Garrus with femshep, there's just no question.

You can also "cheat" with Kelly I think. And there is one hidden character which will kill you if you mate with her.

So which story mission is best to stop and do all side quests without any penalty? Or are you always rushed/punished? I can't remember. Maybe Collector's ship?

EDIT: Also what counts for "time" in this game? Traveling to planets/scanning shit? Jumping through relays? Driving to new systems? Just quests? I'd like to get speed along conversations whenever possible.

Don't get the IFF until you've done what you want to do. After you get it, do legions loyalty quest, then you should get attacked. Go to omega4 right after this

Right before the reaper IFF mission. That'll just leave you Legion's loyalty and one side mission to rescue a freighter. (At least it did for me. I'd already completed everything else to 100%] Do Legion's loyalty first though.

Also is anyone else really sick of Steve Blum's voice? He voices something in almost everything and I swear to fucking god he can't do any other voice than his own. I almost fell for Grunt since they distort all of the Krogan voices, but every once and a while his voice would just burn right through.
