So no way of a Soldier getting a submachine gun eh?

Also I noticed when you do new game+ you get another weapon - I got a sniper rifle because apparently I used mine alot? Either that or I was effective vs armor. It's pretty good too, burst shots with 3 bullets. I imagine you could keep starting new game+ to get all the weapons in the game?

As a soldier, didn't you get an option to grab a submachine gun in the collector ship? I don't see how you shouldn't been able to, since all weapons were an option to me.

edit: all the weapons i couldn't use, as in assault rifle, sniper rifle, and shotgun

I havent played as a soldier so Im not sure, but in general you would think a soldier class which is a combat specialist would be able to use a sub.

How many playthroughs is this game good for? 2? 3?

Really wish it had some kind of multiplayer or coop to keep it around longer.

just beat it... 41 hours to do everything (in 5 days lol), although I probably spent more time scanning than I needed to. Ended up about 175k credits short of every weapon upgrade on playthrough 1.

    I'm ready for ME3 already

Speaking of guns, which are the strongest? I am getting real confused when it comes to assault rifles. Geth, Collector, that "Famas" gun, the machine gun. Are they all equal? The three burst shot one is so damn good, I can't imagine it only being a "tier 2".

I've switched between the collector's rifle and the Vindicator's(3 burst) and the burst is just too good to pass up.

Finished it. It was a pretty good experience, however, it ends like Fellowship of The Ring.

Do all this hard work putting the team together and then it ends. It felt like I hardly got to know or experience anything with my team as a group. Also, some members (maybe more than half?) have the same monotonous recruiting mission. Ran into pacing problems there... However, I think it's a different experience with most people. I left Thane, Samara and Archangel for last. Those missions were a lot of fun and had great pacing. The other missions are too much pew pew.

I like that it let you choose what you wanted to go after first.. However, it felt kind of mundane at parts.. especially since every character had a loyalty mission. I really like the twist one mission had though! Since I was doing a renegade, you can probably guess what decision I made.

Lastly, if you don't recruit viable candidates for romancing.. (I was playing as a femshepard and I left Thane, Tali and "Archangel" for last).. I didn't have enough time to 'get to know them.' Kinda hard to 'get to know' them when they just joined the crew and don't offer more dialogue options... Tali did mention 'joining suits' together though.. What a dirty sexpot. Jack on the other hand told me straight up that she "was sick of me coming around.. she had tried the girl's club and wasn't into it. So stop coming coming around." At least I got laugh out of that. She knew what I was thinkin'! But if anyone was willing to get freaky.. definitely think it would be her.

Mordin probably my favorite character to talk to.. I loved his conversation where he sings.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9CUqJh98sE

Good game.. but I think they westernized it too much. Way too many redundant missions.. however, a good story was there to back up the action.. I just felt a little empty, since it ends with a cliffhanger. Once I finished recruiting everyone, I thought for sure I was only halfway through. Another minor nitpick: I wanted more customization and more weapons/armor sets. It feels like they ripped available armor they made for the game to give to gamestop, collectors editions adopters as DLC. So lame.

The Best And The Worst Of Mass Effect 2 (Spoiler Safe)

    One that makes sense

    Worst: Cooling Clips
    (No spoilers)

ME2’s substitute for ammo: all guns have infinite ammo, but they all need cooling, and the cooling tube thingy needs replacing every few shots. Luckily they all take the same cooling clips, so any you find restock your ammo for all weapons.

Firstly, this sounds like nonsense. Secondly, it actually is. It’s okay for the player to not really buy into the cooling concept, if it at least explains the ammo mechanic. But this concept is both unconvincing and an outright lie. That’s not how it works. You can run out of cooling clips for your pistol and still have 245 for your sub machinegun. There’s no way to use the pistol until you find more cooling clips for it: so weapons do have mututally exclusive clip types. Guys, that’s just ammo. Just call the pickup an ‘ammo box’ and we’ll get that it contains some ammo for each of your weapons. Don’t invent a bizarre new concept and then lie about the way it works.

And after all that, the system truly sucks. I’m constantly out of ammo for the one gun I like because I’m only allowed to hold 16 shots for it, and switching between that and the shitty pistol is a massive hassle. If I find some cooling tubes, I have to pick up one, then switch to the gun I like, then load it, then pick up the next one. Otherwise, it’ll fill the reserve ammo without filling the magazine, leaving me with even less ammo for the only weapon I like.

Instead: each weapon should have its own ammo, and that ammo reserve should be replenished automatically when you’re out of combat. Still encourages weapon variety, but you don’t have to search the whole goddamn room for clips, making sure you have the right weapon out, after every fight.

i agree really, the whole reason guns in the first game were cool was because they didn't need to be reloaded. I mean ammo is ammo, regardless of what you call it.

I'd rather see a system like the first, where you can shoot until your gun overheats, but at any time you can eject/replace the heat sink to instantly reset your heat level to 0.
