Have we ever parsed any real melee mythics?
I mean, the calculations look one way, but putting them in a real testing environment is a whole other deal.

Blm is a real melee? Brb getting a V. Belt for blm tp.
^ 1000x this. For the time and effort these things take they should be game-breaking. At the very least they could change the AM's to stack... i.e. @ lv 2 you get acc and attack, and lv 3 you get all 3 bonuses. THEN they'd be worth building up 300 TP for (well, SAM and DRK at least are already worth building TP for)
Relic WS could use some buffing too... it's complete bullshit that Kaiten is statistically better and yet suffers against high level mobs because Y/G/K have bullshit hidden mods/boosts.
If aftermath provided the ACC/ATK/DA bonus all at once (as we assumed was the case when the stats of the mythics were first revealed) and the potency varied with TP, everything would be dandy.
+10/20/30 to all three effects at 100/200/300TP. Durations remain as they are for each level of aftermath. Overpowered compared to relic?
thread is derailed, half of this crap should be in the mythic discussion thread![]()
Okay.. well I do have a name not just "the SMN" -_-; But point was from my perspective many of the mythic seem over rated, even the ones that I said we were worth it. I was mainly comparing the SMN and BLM mythic though to their relic, which just seems like absolute crap to me. Relic was always supposed to be the best, but it seems so.. useless for those two jobs.
Mind you I do solo on SMN alot so -perp gear comes in handy for me, but I'm still someone using HQ/NQ ele staves.
So basically what I was saying was in comparison to relic, because most other relics > mythic. Forgive me for not wording that correctly.
Pretty much. Unless smn gets a serious buff or overhaul to damage, the only thing we can hope for are any minor increase we can grasp at, which is part of why Nirvana is turning the heads of smns who otherwise think mythics are piss-poor reward for the effort involved (myself included).
I'm one of those who believe that Mythic weapons are essentially there to make up for lousy Relics on some jobs and no relic on the newer jobs..
this is partially true in most cases even if the effort required is kind of far off..
For jobs that have no relic, ie BLU COR PUP DNC SCH, the weapon is a good new option for them, which is likely superior to whatever they can find now..
for jobs that have relics, but didn't really benefit from them, the mythics are definitely a step up from them.. even if they're not by very much...
These would mainly be the mage jobs cos they don't melee much to begin with and didnt benefit from raw damage weapons. WHM, BLM, caster RDMs, and SMN...
for the rest.. who are mainly DDs, or BRD for horn or PLD for shield, the relics serve their purpose.. and it seems like for the most part mythics just dont compare..
Not so sure about COR. Leaden Salute isn't really that great outside of Dyna/Einherjar/Limbus where you can take advantage of Double Dark weather and use Anrin Obi. It's pretty easy to pull 900-1k+ Leaden Salutes in those zones, but in merits or mobs with high MDB, the weaponskill suffers a great deal. Death Penalty seems more of a situational gun, though the Enhanced Quickdraw does draw my attention. But when you are doing Slugshots, giving up the added ACC bonus from the Martial Guns TP bonus is something to consider when comparing Death Penalty to Martial Gun.
Now on the flipside, COR/RNG with Lv3 Aftermath and popping barrage and praying that the "Occasionally Deals Double Damage" procs does seem intriguing. Especially if you can Leaden Salute Lv3 > Sharpshot > Barrage > Shoot > Random Deal (get lucky and have it reset barrage) > Barrage > Shoot > Quick Draw > Quick Draw... you get the picture.
Kanican already cast the Laevateinn as garbage, end of story.
News flash about super crits; they hurt like hell but happen once in a blue moon.
The idea of mythic is to melee anyway, while it's not clever to rely on tp as BLM, AM1 or 2 probably beat HQ staff in dmg and/or acc.
No it doesn't. Read Kanican's post on it. The weapon is complete shit.
