it's an interesting idea and i'm sure there's some applications for it to be used by secondary vendors to provide a plug and play firewall for a web facing server for users with no experience, but beyond that the numbers just don't add up from what i'm reading. at some point it might find its way into my "neat shit to play with" budget but not as a piece for gaming performance as much as just a piece of "neat shit to play with."

It actually does work, "On Certain Games ONLY". Games like WoW or COD. Ive owned one for almost a year or should say it came with the PC i bought. On games like FFXI it doesn't do much.

Some reviews say that this also increases your FPS, that i cant say since it does not do anything noticeable for me.

Its not anything i can say holy f**king Sh*t about but it does seem to make a small change when it comes to lag.

Is it worth the cash? Thats up to you. (either A. faster pings by a small percentage or B. new video card for the same price)

There are some rumors that they are coming out with a new Killer Nic card soon so who knows if that one will be better.

The concept is ridiculously outdated. Marketing something like this to save your computer processing complications and to enhance your bandwidth is about as effective as saying "if you don't have an independent sound card in a modern PC, the on-board one will slow you down like nobody's business!"

This isn't the '90s. If a computer were human, it'd operate an on-board NIC and on-board sound processing in its sleep. You don't need one of these, unless you're using a clunker, and why in the hell would you do that for gaming and then buy an overpriced NIC card for it?

i'd honestly be more interested in the applications of it for other uses, such as if you could create a firewall with unique properties or for traffic analysis when trying to reverse engineer network traffic from malware or otherwise. i recognize that a lot of this could be done (and more covertly) using a secondary machine on the wire between the box in question and the rest of the network, but fewer parts to fail and a much smaller footprint/power consumption probably have some interesting implementations that make it a fun toy to play with. bottom line is though, if you're looking for a performance boost, buy a better graphics card, more ram, some other upgrade, or a big case of beer (generally this is good for making any game more fun no matter how bad the system performance!) if however you're looking for a fun toy to play with (and the damn price comes down) it might have some neat uses.

My PC came with it and ive played with and without it all i can say is that it does make a small dent in latency in certain games when i compare it with my onboard nic or an added one.

Again not a huge increase but one i can notice.
