I'm not sure I understand what you're on about, but £ is the symbol for pound, not euros. € is the symbol for euro. And Brits are confused, they use imperial system for some measurements and metric for another, go figure.

Yeah, things are like that in Canada too. Most people over 20 know their weight and height in pounds and feet/inches, and are probably used to casual distances in inches and feet (though longer distances are normally in kilometres). However, nobody really ever thinks of distance or speed in miles or mph and if you say to someone you weigh "12 stone" you'll probably get a very confused look unless they're familiar with the UK.

Legally, everything in Canada uses the Metric system or SI, but for the vast majority of the population casual measurements are a unique mix of imperial and metric. And all nearly all construction is done in imperial or SAE units.
