do you just skip arrapago or something?
We don't kill many of the Black Mage Qutrubs, we just do the Dark Knights and then go to the Skeletons.
Hmm I wonder what jobs do those skeleton with staff has...
I wonder what kind of spell those thing casts on their idle time...
I wonder how I'll ever be able to cast Finale once without 5/5 merits in it...
Skeleton BLMs I tend to sleep, then Finale so that they can't recast right away.
Qutrub BLMs I tend to pull with Elegy, then Finale while they're casting on me unless they're casting something particularly nasty.
While Finale merits are semi-useful for the first floor of Arrapago Remnants (though let's be honest, you're also perfectly fine without merits there), is there actually any other place they are really good? Is it really worth telling people to merit it just for that?
Minuet/Madrigal/Finale/Lullaby are all solid choices, unlike some other jobs, I don't think you can really go wrong maxing any 2 of those, as long as you are basing it on what -you- use bard for.
k, it's like talking to a fucking brick wall.
There are more than 1 BLM in a fucking room, pull the damn thing fast enough and you might run into an issue with finale recast, especially if you already used it to take out the buff from the merrow RDM that might be in the room.
Sorry that you're too fucking dense to understand the potential usage and application of 5 finale merits during that kind of situation.
Ya, I usually just pull with Elegy and then Finale at camp. Our Red Mage usually gets Silence on the Black Mages before they can do anything too.
Edit: Sorry you're too dense to realize that 5/5 Minuet and Madrigal are more helpful than an one obscure situation that any Red Mage that doesn't suck can fill in for anyway.
5/5 Troubingale for Brd/Blm, same timer as Elemental Seal.
5/5 Troubingale is also because Sirvante and Dirge are crap.
Group 1 is down to prefferance. I'll be putting 5 in Lullaby and haven't decided the other slot yet, but I'll max one of Mad or Min.
I didn't say it was better, I'm saying situations exist, and you're just too much of a douchebag to acknowledge it.
If it's not better, why are you arguing over it?
You flat out deny the existence of possible scenario where it could have been better than minuet or madrigal merit.
Does it makes finale better overall? Probably not, but denying that it's useless on all ground makes you pretty fucking wrong.
I think people vastly overrate Nightingale. Personally, I don't think going past 1 in Nightingale is even worth the time you spent meriting it. As for "Dirge being crap", please tell me why so many mages like using -enmity, if -10 enmity is "crap". If by crap you meant it's hard to use, and the bard has to be more aware of things going on around him, then fine. But Dirge is definitely useful and good if the bard knows how/when to use it properly. I think any serious bard should have 1-4 in Dirge, personally.
I never denied its existence, I said I've never been in that situation. Furthermore, after reviewing the situation, its obvious that its not required to have full merits in that situation either.
Sirvente and Dirge are definately not crap. Especially with so many people leveling a variety of jobs, and afraid to merit Enmity, like me. I agree that I don't typically use these spells often, and they're not worth meriting if you're not going to use them, but they're certainly better than Nightingale. I find myself really only using Nightingale during Soul Voice, which only takes 1 merit.
Bard merits are.... Bard merits. Throw some merits into recast on Troub/Nightengale and then if you really have nothing better to do then merit your songs.
IMO, the boost melee get from a NQ just hit 75 bard on a zerg fight is more than enough because of the sheer number of people whacking at DL or anything else you are fighting. I mean, what is your "I spent x number of hours meriting madrigal and minuet" bard going to do to the 25 seconds that DL lives? lower it to 23 seconds or 24 seconds?
Then again i'm from the old school. If you are meriting a job to be able to do better damage in a merit party, I feel you are wasting your time. If you are meriting so that you can better perform within a End Game situation, then I feel its worth it. Bard merits defitely are NOT something to have an argument over. Then again, what do I know, I just sing songs with the same damn horn all the time.![]()
Lets see, if you are tanking on NIN, probably gonna want march
If you are tanking on PLD, probably gonna want ballad/march
Why enmity up ?
If you are a ranger, you're probably gonna want minuets
If you are a melee, you're probably gonna want minuets/madrigals/march
If you are a mage, you're probably gonna want ballads
Why enmity down ?
Unless you are gonna use enmity down for bst, ... I guess... but if you consider that, please consider doing less things with bst first.
As a side note you get more songs out of your troubadour if you stack it with nightingale.
You know the Aristocrat's Coat you synthed in your sig? You realize that 2% extra healing really isn't gonna do anything either.
If you don't care about 5 attack per song here (10 attack with double minuet, 20 attack with 2hred double minuet), why care about an HQ amemet mantle? And I guess 5 attack for a proper instrument is a waste too. Definitely wouldn't want to have the melee waste time getting 16 attack from meriting their WS.
Really, I don't know why you'd try to single out bard merits as not worthwhile. They are as worthwhile as using an Ace's over a Turban, as using a HQ Amemet over NQ. Games like this are about stacking lots of small benefits, and it really adds up faster than you realize.
