NPC Price Modifiers

If two players have the same fame rank, but one of them is very close to ranking up and the other player is not close at all, do they pay the same prices?

Hard to tell. An elemental ring (E.g. Snow Ring => NPC Value 33800) might give a difference large enough to tell though.

Unfortunately, I don't have any characters to test this out.

btw, does anybody know why a max fame city mule pays 10 gil for a distilled water but my main pays 11 gil? Also has anybody ever bought distilled water for 9 gil from NPC? Wiki claims that is the low point.

I have a question similar to this. Does anyone know why 2 characters both from the same nation with the same fame sell the same item to the same NPC for a 4 gil difference?

My character seems to have really bad luck in Bastok with NPCs as I tend to get lower gil selling items compared to prices listed on Wiki, and I can't seem to get Distilled Water or Pickaxes down to what other people can. I know I have max fame (if there was beyond max fame I would have it, I think I'm missing 5 or 6 quests in Bastok TOTAL).

A friend of mine suggested race. I am an elvaan in Bastok and he is a hume.

My taru mule and hume mule gets the bonuses when selling.
My hume main doesn't.

Any other differences between your characters?
Like job levels? SJ?

At the time we were selling the same item it was just after a round of Up In Arms BC60s so he was on his 75PLD/WAR and I was on my 75DRG/SAM. Both of us are Rank 10 Basotk. We were selling to Neigepance in the Bastok Mines chocobo stables.
