PLD Resist sets

I wanted to know what people use for Fire and Earth resist sets on PLD. I am trying to figure out what gear I need to get, and what to start camping.

Mine atm. I need Hrotti, Club of Trials, those new +Earth hands (or Sand Gloves). But what I have is still more than enough for KS99, Ouryu, Tiamat.

This is my fire resist set. Hrotti and cerberus bow are things i could upgrade to, had cerberus bow for a while but its to much money to spend on such a situational piece imo. i dont have a earth build atm. but hope this gets you in the right direction.

Pretty solid imo except maybe need one or two HQ pieces here and there.

I made myself an earth elemental resist build and it worked like charm to resist stuff on air, but honestly, it isn't neccesary at all.

I tank it pld/nin on askar feet, shadow ring, resentment cape and mix of auto-refresh and enmity stats on other slots.

Seems like an appropriate place for this question: What is a good number to shoot for when building a resistance set? I heard that elemental resistance builds in tiers but I haven't be able to find any specific information on how high I need to go.

Keeping your support in mind. Crumhorn +1 fire/earth carol is +50. Whm with capped barspell merits, af2 legs, and 281 enhancing skill (af2 feet, enhancing torque, augmenting earring, and merciful cape) is about 126. My whm has this does anyone else, lol? So anyway that leaves us with about 176 maximum from your bard/whm and 178 if your whm has af2+1 legs.

We have 2 WHMs with the legs and capped Barspell merits, and all of our BRDs have HQ Crumhorn (So to answer your second question, yes, other people do it)

What you want to aim for depends on what you're tanking.
KS99 Wyrm doesn't take much at all, he's a baby. Tiamat aim for 300, Ouryu I believe 300 is the generally desired number.

Ouryu really isn't worth the inventory space for earth. Just pile on MDB/MDT and it's still a joke.

300~ total gets you down to the low double/single digit dmg. whm subbin sch helps as does cleric's briault in addition to the gear mentioned above and yes what Saxon said, too

Is Earth resist even worth getting or would a magic damage set do more then good enough?

Earth resist is a waste of space/time, /rdm with magic dmg reduction gear is good enough for Ouryu

My WHM hits 127 with a couple of enhancing merits, merciful cape, relic pants, relic feet, enhancing torque, augmenting earring etc etc So no, you're not the only barspell obsessive around here :D I think shooting for 300 is the goal but 250+ seems to work pretty well.

Oh and Chuyu I think you mean blessed not cleric's briault.
