I think I read in Game Informer a while ago that they're trying to get the whole trilogy out but translation takes a while, and they want to do the 2nd trilogy also. Could be wrong though.

Oh yeah, they've definitely confirmed the third one already. I doubt they wouldn't bring over the second trilogy, either. Layton is HUGE in Europe, and doing pretty darn well in the States, so its a no-brainer to bring the others over.

Translation just takes a long long time, since they have to make sure all the puzzles still make sense in English, and then make maybe a dozen or so new ones in some cases. (can't have puzzles about kanji or anything like that) And you might notice, even with a year of localization work, a couple of the puzzle's descriptions are still a little wonky. Hopefully it doesn't take them another year and half to do the third one.

I usually don't do gaming news, but I'm a huge fan of Professor Layton and Famitsu had a special Level 5 booklet in their magazine this week. I did a little writeup on "The Specter's Flute" (tentative title for newest game) and posted some pictures.

I've never got into the first one - but my fiance played the first one to death when he nicked my DS and his mum's copy of it. If they're bringing these kind of puzzle games out and they're selling like they are - god damn I'd love to see a port/update of the 7th Guest onto something like the DS.

I've had the OST for the 2nd game for a while now and I love the music they use in the Layton series. I've almost finished chapter 2, oh that Elysian Box, the plot thickens! =D

Kinda disappointed with the secret content I unlocked in the 1st game, but the different concept art they had for Layton were interesting.

I still hate those puzzles where you have to slide blocks around to get something out the middle. ~_~

    The hamster is hilarious! xD

I hope they keep London Life in the fourth game when they bring it over here, as apparently there was a London Life mode in this game that was removed for the NA/EU version. Although it only had repeats of puzzles from the first game.

oh yeah, I totally forgot about that game! it was so awesome when it came out... the beautiful pre-rendered graphics, the intriguing story, the non-linear exploration, the puzzles... hard to believe we've come so far since then. I'd still love to play it again though.

Bumping to give Professor Layton some love. I did a writeup on my trip to the Level 5 booth, play-through of the demo and some of the free stuff I grabbed.

It isn't out in Europe for another month. =/ Hope it works on the R4 in the meantime until I can buy the EU version.

Did anyone else participate in the ladies vs gents event they had going on? http://professorlaytonds.com/ladiesvsgents/

I attended the one in San Francisco and they were giving away Professor Layton t-shirts just for doing a puzzle or two.

The game is available to be downloaded now.

I can confirm that the game is working with the latest Wood R4.

The link isn't to the direct download Click the megaupload or hotfile links

It's not completely free of AP. I keep freezing in the opening of the game. With v1.12 Wood firmware.

Just got to the finale puzzle gauntlet, but will have to let the very end wait until later this week. Without spoiling anything, I just have to say holy shit did they ever crank this game up about 1000 notches on the epic scale.

It also feels a shitload longer. Took me 12 hours to complete, but I can't recall how much of that is me dawdling about watching TV and playing during the breaks. Hope the fourth Layton can keep the production values as high. More cinematics and voice-acting in this than the previous two combined.

Isn't there a Layton movie out? And if/when will it come to America?

I absolutely love the stories in these games.
