The Cloverfield Monster is really just a Giant Common cold virus made by Walter from Fringe.

JJ Abram definitely deserves all the credit for the popularity of this new mystery genre. I love Lost but don't think it's hard to write a story comprised of metaphysics nearing the realm of impossibility. If you think about it, all the writers do is make the dialogs as obscure, opaque as possible. Though it remains to be seen whether they decide to explain everything that has happened. If not, it's really not as difficult as many would think to create a series where crazy unexplained events are the norm and no one knows what happened and where we are going.

I would say everybody involved with season 1 of Lost deserves credit for the popularity of the genre it started. And, I think the writers of Lost have more then shown these last 2.5 seasons they are willing to make the opaque things clear for us.

I love Lost, but Fringe is close behind it.

I started watching Fringe when it first aired... I enjoyed the show and writing, but I stopped watching it due to the timeslot I think. Is the show really that good? I know it gets pretty good ratings... so it seems like FOX is going to keep it around.

It is worth the weekly download, but its absolutely no Lost.

It has a lot better acting than most other shows, ie - Heroes

Fringe is hands down my favorite show right behind Lost. I highly recommend watching it.

how does fringe compare to xfiles? it just seems like an xfiles type show with instead of alien conspiracy, its science conspiracy. imo, xfiles was the first mainstream sci-fi mystery show and it's writing and acting is hard to replicate.

It will never be as good as X-Files. Fringe is new and X-files is all reruns that I have seen, so I watch Fringe. It really is a great show.

Usually when people ask me "Will I like Fringe?" my reply is "Did you like X-Files?"

I like Fringe. It's like Lost in that it has a long overall arc, but it's like X-Files in that it has its own episodic material, different cases etc.

And now that this thread was brought back from the dead, I'll address my OP and say that it's not panning out like I had hoped.

A larger JJ Abrams universe about a "war" spread out across a few different shows would have been pretty cool I think. Too ambitious for television though.

JJ Abrams is a genius for Lost and Cloverfield. Might have to get on Fringe soon.

Fringe and Cloverfield both suck imo. Lost is great but as was said, JJ was only involved in the original concept and Season 1. No clue why people think Cloverfield was good though.
