Jailer of Faith -- Earth Resist Build?

Been doing some reading on the Jailer of Faith, and yeah he's pretty easy as is but I think he could be easier. OtherWiki says that garuda is highly resistant to taking damage from him which leads me to assume that he deals earth elemental based damage with his melee attacks. Is there any truth to this? And if so would an earth resist build be a viable option for a Paladin to straight tank this jailer in? Theoretically, off the top of my head a PLD could get:

Wind Staff - +15
Assault Breastplate - +15
Wind Belt - +20
Crimson Greaves - +20
Jewelled Collar - +10
Nimble Earring x2 - +22
Robust Ring x2 - +20
Iron Ram Head, Hands and Legs - +10
for a total of +132

with a 60 Resist Barstone and a 50 Resist Earth Carol that comes to a grand total of 242 earth resist.

What I wanna know is if anyone has tried this, if it made a difference, and if it's worthwile?

Difference is really not worthwhile for a NM that can be zerged or aoes can be avoided most of the time.

Edit: keep 1 whm outside the alliance on stona duty only as breakga spreads with the alliance/pt of the main target. Everyone else should use poison pots so that they don't get slept. Take some IR gear and call it a day

We typically have 6-9 people show up to sea and half of them are tank support... zerging really isn't in the cards for us.

Don't need a earth resist build to straight tank it, PLD/NIN with a WHM outside of breakga and you're golden. (I know from experience) If you happen to have 2 WHMs you can always let 1 stay in your range and another far from you but in range of the other WHM and chain stona WHM to WHM to PLD that's what we do.

Barstone is going to be somewhere between 90 and 120. I don't recall it's normal attacks being stone based but I don't know that they aren't for sure. A lot of his TP moves and all of his spells are, however.

I don't know how effective this would be. It can be difficult to keep hate on a tank for JoF anyways if you're using BLM as your primary damage source. Our BLM end up taking hate and kiting it most of the time.

we had a guy who wasted time and gil on this, then we showed him you can kill it quite easily with 5 people without getting hit by spells. Kite, nuke, know how to make him cast, game over.

Never really heard of using an Earth Resist for Faith before, but it you were looking for a decent set it'd be as listed above (found on Fur's Item Sets page).

there is no point to have whm outside of party if the mob is not moving.

also his attack are physical but does strong stone magic

Last I checked Assault Breastplate wasnt exactly easy to get either, unless you have it already

The idea is that an earth resist set is honestly not essential nor worth the headache to get over for JoFaith. If you want to take an IR set, then by all means go for it. It can be trio'ed by a group of 3 very skilled players (rdm, blmx2) with movement speed and even duoed. Faith is only a problem when people don't come prepared or don't know what to expect or do
