New to pld, up in arms

Just got a hold of an account from a friend and it has a good number of seals, and a 65ish pld geared in AF and whatnot. I was looking to do up in arms, but have never played pld before and only done that BC once on my main character so I'm looking for strats in general and what I should be doing specifically as a pld.

Changing jobs to Blm or Rdm?

Pld is useful in that fight? Really?

Can i get a somewhat of a serious response? If he had blm or rdm, I would have been posting about that.

Well, I am serious, I've never heard of a Pld being used for that fight, and have a few compulsive KC BC spammers in my various friends and LSes.

I'm interested though, because I'd never do the shit on Blm or Rdm, but have like 400 BS and a lvl 70 Pld!

I know this isn't exactly what you are asking for, but you could just get 2 BLM to enter with you and let them duo while you just stand there (maybe attempt to grab hate if one BLM gets in trouble).

Only prob with this is that you won't get a YOYD that way or if its a split money run, they'll want to split ur club but won't split theirs since I wouldn't be needed for the fight. >.>

A while back, I used to do this BCNM with PLD+RDM+RNG. Pld kites, Rdm enfeebles/nukes, mainly Gravity+Bio+Paralyze, and Rng deals damage. It's not as easy/simple as manaburning it, but it is very possible when your job options are limited like that. Just need to time yourself the first few times so you know how much damage you need to put out to make the time limit while still keeping hate on the PLD for the majority of the fight. Sub War, use an Earth staff, try to stay out of range at all costs once it's down to 1-2 tentacles, as it'll start hitting like a mofo. If you can manage a cure cheat at that level, it'll help with hate a lot.

The RNG can be replaced by any DD, really. I've often used that spot on my Mnk, running behind the mob and smacking it. It's just easier when you can shoot from a distance.

Edit: Bibiki Shell is a lifesaver doing this on any job, bar RNG. Definitely do the quest if you haven't already.

I had a cure cheat at 50, definitely doable at 60, especially if you want to grab some Jaridah gear for it.

We do RDM+SAM/THF+PLD straight tank, takes about 10 mins a run. SAM starts with TP, PLD grabs it, sentinels, SAM does TA+WS, SA+WS and usually takes off 2-3 limbs before sentinel wears. RDM should get convert out of the way before it goes into maelstrom/cyclone spam mode at the end. I was the RDM so can't give you too many specifics on what the PLD was doing, but it didn't seem all that special or unusual.

If it gets ugly, can always disengage and sleep or gravity. Once it goes into aoe spam mode, it seems to get 'stuck" on one person and won't come off regardless of hate, and it likes doing that on the sam lol, so might have to have both cure bomb the SAM at the end. Definitely manageable though. Other DD jobs would probably do OK as well, but being able to open with those WSes helps a lot.

I'm amazed people think pld is not useful for this. I've done this about 60 times as pld, drk, rdm and we always win in 6-7 mins. The bcnm is ridiculously easy with this setup and I'm sure the drk could be swapped with any dd. Shouldn't need to sleep, but rdm sleeps it easily if you get in trouble. dd/thf and ta ws for better hate control.

eh, also did this with PLD BLM BLM a while ago. Paladin didn't do much other than tossing vokes and flashes, while BLM's took care of the mob by sleep/nuke strategy.

    Went very smoothly everytime.

PLD, DD, RDM is an easy win, though definitely not as easy as a manaburn. But it's doable, so if you can get the people to go, go for it.

My current set up is usually COR, RDM, BLM, easy as all hell. COR/RNG does nicely on Fe'e too.

I static this as PLD mage DD.

I go PLD/WAR and tank as normal, start with sentinel since he hits pretty fast to start with. The mage has to be able to keep me alive, have done it with both BLM WHM and RDM, though the BLM needed a yag drink when he was the sole healer. Usually, our DD is a BLU, who sets a healing spell to help. The BLU usually brings a yag drink.

If we're low on MP, either the mage (RDM or BLM sleep, WHM repose) or the BLU sleeps Fe'e, and we rest for a minute or two. I go Haub + AF head/hands/legs/feet, and random DD pieces. A good sword that can deal damage, and att/acc food, whatever I have on hand. My vorpals do okay. By the end, hate starts getting messed up, but Sentinel is up again by then, and I cover the BLU if necessary.

We've cut it close on time a couple of times (usually due to low MP, so yag drinks recommended without a RDM is highly recommended - would probably go faster with a different DD), but never timed out.

I did this with pld nin and rdm or whm before. Just have pld tank first and when it starts to hit hard have nin tank and pld equip dd gear with nin also using dd gear.

honestly it's impossible to lose with 1 blm (anything more just speeds it up), or rdm+ any job (whm nuking with banish works even <.<). can just get 1-2 others to kill it while you leech.

take 3+the mule, enter with your mule, have 2 blms enter, exit with mule, enter with 3rd blm
    that works? o.o

I kited this on PLD a few times for a friend, until I leveled a more useful job for this BC, impossible to lose with a BLM, anything else just either leeches or speeds up the fight.

As said, it's also cake with PLD, RDM, any DD job.

my stadic is pld - rdm - rng
rdm opens Eseal gravity, pld vokes, flashes, kites. rng goes ape shit on it, pld cures when he looses hate. rdm spams nukes and keeps gravity on. sleep2 -> convert about 45-50% and repeat. whole things takes 9 minutes or so. Never lost a run and a very simple strategy. Got our first drop last week to, 1/80 >_>

I've got a 60 rdm mule, and my main has pld/drk/mnk/otheruselessforthisjobs.

All i basically do is pick up a blm 60+ from my linkshell, someone I know is good. I leave my main in the first room, never touch it again. This BC is very very easy to duo. The blm opens up with blizzaga 2, I grav, and from then on I nuke a little, bind and grav on rdm, blm just spams nukes. Eventually i seal sleep, we rest, when it wakes i sleep again, until blm has full mp. Rinse and repeat until dead. Normally takes me about 10-11mins with the two of us. This way I can use seals from my main while I kill it using mule.
