Anyone else just get thrown offline? Got DC'ed in Port Jeuno just before a limbus run and can't get back into POL. Roadrunner here in Columbus.

I didn't suffer any DC'ing last night/today and I live in Northeast Columbus. I usually give the guys at roadrunner a call to see if there's any connection issues (which i've rarely had, personally) and they're pretty good at seeing whats going on if it actually is your connection. On a separate note, yay more people from Ohio (I hope you mean, and not some other Columbus like that one i GA, *taru growls*). (*^-^) Even so, haven't had any problems with my roadrunner yet...
Just been timed out twice
Me and my friends were having all kinds of D/Cs last night, but I think that had to do more with running a torrent on my computer. I'm not tech savvy; does that sound right? Another BitTorrent kicking me off XBL and making me fail my searches?
re Jakson: If you set your bandwidth limits incorrectly it might time out FFXI. The game runs fine even on dial-up but if it set to DSL/Cable and has less available bandwidth than normal it will DC rather than chug along at a snail's pace. You'd be getting severe lag otherwise, say 1~5 second delay between command input and effect, although for some reason the way the client handles chat your own chat (what you input) will never appear to lag.
re Kimiko: Some people from my LS are on the same area and provider and they were running fine all through the AM. (I know a lack of other lost connections doesn't help much, but just adds to what Octavious said.)
Sometimes I'll get weird disconnects where I'll r0, come to log back on, then just get hung up in the black screen for 5 minutes before POL decides to tell me there's some kind of problem. If I try to get back on after clicking out of the message, it'll say my character's logged in and to try again. This process can repeat for anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours, but I can log my mules and such on just fine. Sometimes I think releasing my IP, rebooting, then renewing it helps cut down on the failed log-ins after it happens, but it might just be placebo.
Your Bittorrent client should have a menu for it. Figure out what your total bandwidth is (Comcast should have a gauge on their website) and then put in the numbers to BT appropriately. You shouldn't have to do anything to your router or computer or xbox or whatnot, just in the BT client itself.
I did find out what had transpired last night. Apperently at 1am, RR experienced a fault with their DNS servers, causing them not to resolve domain names to their respective IP addresses. Basically this caused some sites (including the servers for FFXI) to become unreachable. Problem was resolved sometime around 3am'ish.
I use OpenDNS | Providing A Safer And Faster Internet
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
my isp's dns servers suck balls
how the fuck is this advanced, next time i have a connection problem im making a thread in advanced
Hey, I was having the same problem. I was wondering what was up with the entire internet.
Because internet issues are serious business.
BTW, thanks for the hint on the OpenDNS, I'll check that out later tonight.
Been having issues past 2am CST with XI. I'll either R~32, /tell spam to myself, and get back to 100, or I'll just flat out 4001 to POL.
On Suddenlink in Texas as well.
random DCing here too. All my friends with OptOnline in NY said the same thing to me too. I still can't seem to log on while my net works fine otherwise
FFXI blew up again here in Texas. Suddenlink in College Station.
I was having connection issues last night also, a few ls people also, doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason as far as location or ISP.
NY optonline here, but even people outside the US with different providers had problems.
side note: anyone remember the northeast optimum online ffxi blackout from ummmm 2006? I hope its not happening again ><
that sucked SO much.
Bunch of people DCed out of Dynamis last night, in handfulls. They would all come back on after 15-20 mins too. Different providers every time. This really sucks.
Looking over the names, could this be a cable provider issue? I remember the OptOnline blackout and running over to my Verizion friends places to move myself out of the "dead' zones.
