Can anyone point me in the direction of some good posts/blogs about the Baha fight in general?

2 blm pt with a rdm/drk in each.

    ...
Just to add to Syanonn's post: Manaburn is a stable strategy. We were 56/67 on it while we were active, with half the losses coming from early tries before we got the strategy down. The other half came from when we try with not-so-great pick-up PLDs.

Tank party has to be solid, the best available to you. A PLD that takes 500 dmg from Gigaflare makes a big difference from one that takes 1200 dmg. Likewise, a WHM that knows how to run in and cure and run out to avoid taking hits is a lot different from one that dies every 1-2 flares for no good reason or one who is too slow to respond for that matter.

    Tank PT: 2 x PLD/NIN, BRD/Anything, RDM/DRK, WHM/SCH or WHM/NIN x 2
    2 BLM PT: 9 x BLM/WHM or BLM/RDM + 2 RDM/DRK + THF/Anything

THF is to improve the drops on Bahamut, and yes it does make a big difference.

-> 1 RDM/DRK is assigned to CS-Stun Vrtra each run.
-> Tank party RDM focuses on heals.
    -> Remaining RDM/DRK stun ga4.

    Guidelines:
    1. Ensure BLMs do not random stun because this will speed up the stun resistance.
    2. Ensure BLMs do not nuke past a flare mark (every 10%) if tanks HP are low. If accidents occur, you might want to assign 1 person to delay the flare while they are cured.
    3. Ensure BLMs have +elemental skill or +macc gear so they don't get resisted out their arses.
    4. Ensure BLMs know what nukes to use on which Wyrms.

Appoint a BLM to take the lead. He will call when to nuke and when to rest, as well as coordinate party swaps (if necessary).

If you have someone to see HP%, have that person call out % from periodically. Alternatively if you don't want to use tools of any kind, you will have to assign 1 person to stun X-Flare where X = Mega/Giga/Tera. This stun will allow people time to respond to it.

Take it slow for the first 3 summons. Rest all BLMs to full mp before triggering the summon (Every 20%). Resting to full will avoid the need to manafont. Have all BLMs pop a POISON POTION when Vrtra appears. Kill the summon asap. There is no need to get a PLD to pull it either.

After taking it slow for the first 3 summons, you can opt to skip the last. Bring it down to ~21% and have all BLMs do a ES + AM2 timed nuke. Have the BLMs spread out before this in case a stray Tera-flare goes off and wipe your alliance. Random stuns are allowed at this point.

This should take out ~10-12% of the health in 1 hit. Spam nukes and it should go down before it has time to complain about it. Have the bored THF entertain the last summon in case things drag out a bit.

If tanks go down, have the BLMs bounce Bahamut around. We have managed this a few times before.
    -------
As Syanonn pointed out, BLMs don't need to be top-notch for this. We have done runs with pickup BLMs of all kinds. Just ensure everyone pays close attention to the lead BLM.

Using this method will allow a full alliance to do up to 3 runs (1 CS-Stun per RDM/DRK) in 1 trip so it is more sustainable than a zerg from full to finish, though slower per run.

Doing this nonzerg was easily one of the more difficult fights I ever did, back when zerging wasnt known as a strat for this. It is significantly more stable and safer to do the zerg...although this to me was a lot more fun. I think we did make it tougher because we did the same strat everyone else listed pretty much, except I would solo tank Bahamut on NIN/WAR...god damn was that hard to keep hate from BLMs...had to be perfect with shadows and never get hit.

Was also one of the more satisfying victories I've had and pretty fun to do. Once we got the hang of it the results were fine, but there can be a costly learning curve with this fight.

We used to do this Manaburn every run and do 3 orbs a night. Couple losses at the start til we got the strat down. Then recently had another loss and a 2nd bad run due to incredibly bad luck and timing so we switched to meleeburn recently and yes its the lazy way out but it means I don't leave the event with a headache trying to run this event ~.~ and BLMs don't leave crying about their buffers <.<

Anyway we used to go with the following setup:

PLD PLD WHM RDM BRD BRD
WHM RDM SMN THF BLM BLM
BLM BLM BLM BLM BLM BRD

We usually take it down til just before each flare time then let the SMN BP to force it when BLMs/Tanks were rdy. Every 20% flare we pop a poison pot incase of lame Vrtra. If Jorm popped our RDM/DRK CS stunned Blood Weapon. Skipped the last Wyrm pop with a timed nuke at 23% to kill it. Think our best kill time was around 23-24mins. Worst was 30 sec til time out due to a mage pulling hate on a Flare and it turning and oops... mass death <.<

Couple of tips for BLMs is use full Ele skill gear, never ever nuke Thunder on Bahamut until the timed nuke with ES at 23%. Less use of Thunder in the fight on it means stuns will take longer to resist. If Vrtra pops early, burn your ES on it and Burst 2 or Thundaga III to kill it fast. Vrtra is the win or wipe summon. Charm can seriously screw you. Also all BLMs need to spread out on the summon incase of Vrtra insta Charm/Sleep.

Imo this is one of the more difficult fights if not done via Meleeburn. Takes a lot of focus from everyone there and one little slip up can cost you.

GL when you try it :D

    ?
Bahamut resists after ~30 or so stuns, with or without Thunder.

Wiping 16 percent of your runs is not a stable strategy, and I don't care about the excuse.

Yeah, I know this is a late post, but it deserves to be pointed out.

He fairly clearly states that 5-6 of those wipes were first attempts and the rest (5-6) were with bad members. Given that I'd say it's fairly stable.

sucks bahamut's flares doesnt look like the one he does in the PM7-2 cutscene (the big shinku hadouken beam) instead theyre like explosions or something.
