I'm one of those people who would probably take it from Mog Bonanza, tbh. If I never have to fight Byakko again, I'd be happy. Or, if I found a bunch of people who were smart, could fight/kill it, and didn't mind setting up a once a week thing to try for it, I'd be okay with that. I'm dreading dinging to 75 without it, because I'll be 100% set up for a gimp/wtf posting here - Haub+1, Snip+1, brutal, cerb, what have you... and no alternative. D:

It's still stupid to post town gear though unless you know that the person actually thinks it's viable gear for their job. I run around town in random crap all the time just cause it's leftover from other jobs and I don't want to be nakie. Most of the time town is just not fair game. Not saying people should be banned for something so stupid, but it would be equally stupid to tarnish someone's reputation undeservedly.

If people actually wear gear that sucks that bad, I don't think they care about their reputation. I doubt if someone's wearing fang earrings in town that they have a pair of spike earrings somewhere else. Likewise, if a 75 anymelee is wearing NQ level 54 rings, i doubt he's got a pair of flame rings/whatever else anywhere else either. Those kind of things are not visible while you're afk/fap/esexing your manthra.
