It doesn't matter. You don't call the army when someone breaks into your house. You don't call emergency services when McDonalds refuses to refund your money. Not getting a refund is not an emergency. Yes, it is a police matter, and yes I have already stated that she probably had no other choice. However, the smarter thing to do would be to have called 911 and asked how to get a hold of the police, not call them back repeatedly bitching about chicken nuggets. They have more important things to handle than chicken nuggets. Theft is theft, no matter how small, but we're talking $2 here. The manager didn't walk up to her car, put a gun to her head, and steal her purse. He didn't refund her money.

Not giving cash refunds != stealing. They offered her store credit, which is perfectly legal, and she refused and called 911.

Was it a good decision on the manager's part? Probably not, so the company made it right and refunded her money later after she turned the whole thing into a fiasco. Hopefully they punished the manager too, but honestly, he erred on the side of protecting his employer, and in the vast vast majority of cases, what he did would've worked perfectly fine. Most people would just pick something else, be moderately annoyed and continue with their day.

Did she have any legal justification whatsoever for involving emergency services? No fucking way, she wasted their time and deserved the ticket she got. I hope she learned some kind of lesson from this, but sadly, that lesson is probably just to call the non-emergency number next time she wants to cause a scene.

Edit: For Dimmauk, "dining and dashing" is almost impossible to prosecute in most states. The most a restaurant can do is refuse to serve you if you come in again, they have very little legal recourse if you just walk out without paying. It's a huge problem in some areas, and a major reason why restaurants in bigger cities are very tight-fisted with the cash.

Any civilized person who cares about themselves would have known not to take such a tard ass thing to 911. Everyone there at the McDonalds, 911 dispatch and police involved now know that this woman is a retard. She was in the wrong by far. Policy is policy. Regardless if it isn't it is until a higher up says it isn't. The manager said it was policy to not give refunds. Taco Bell is the same way. You cannot have a refund given to you. You must order something off the menu equal to or higher than what you ordered. If the manager thought that's what it is and said that's what it is, the woman had no way of knowing that wasn't what the policy really was.

In the moment she was wrong in every way. You don't argue with a manager over policy if you in fact don't know the policy. It was later stated that the manager was wrong because that wasn't policy and the right thing was done by giving her a meal for free and what not.

All in all she's a dumb bitch, nough said.

If she had been told that there were no nuggets before she paid, then she should have left or bought something different. But for them to take the money for the nuggets, then say "oh yeah we don't have any" and keep the money anyways is just crazy. They should have just given her the money back if she didn't want the alternative. I would have caused a scene too if I was there and didn't want any alternatives (I don't like most of the food at most places, so sometimes an alternative isn't even an option).
