I recently built 2 new PCs, both identical in hardware. I went with Windows XP x64 (64 bit version), and after getting through POL->FFXI->ROZ->COP->TOUA the installs went fine. When I attempt to install WOTG expansion, I get an error stating that FFXI is not installed and the install will not continue.
Things I've tried:
1) Uninstall + Reinstall of all ffxi related software.
2) Install ffxi into the c:\program files\ directory opposed to c:\program files (x64) directory.
3) Contacting SE tech support, which flat out said they don't support X64 O/S.
I am using an torrented copy of WOTG, and it did work previously on 32bit build O/S's. I have seen in prior threads people mentioning they have got FFXI running fine in Vista/Xp Pro x64, but I am running out of areas to troubleshoot. Is there any registry changes, or work-arounds that you guys have used to get around this problem? I can list PC specs, but I don't think that will help solve this issue. Worse case I will dual boot to a 32bit O/S for ffxi, but I am trying to stay away from that as an option. I also would rather not go to Vista, if a known fix is available for XP x64.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
