Watchmen: The End is Nigh

At first when I saw this I figured it was just banking on the film and going to be completely shit. The more I read, the more I got interested because I heard it was going to be a straight beat-em up. Well after getting bored last night, I downloaded the demo and was thoroughly surprised to find that it was a pretty fun game.

Anyone else bought/played this yet?

I was waiting for someone to play this first and let me know how it is, I tend to stay away from movie/game combinations for the most part.

I have to admit though, I was intrigued.

I would recommend the demo first before you outright buy it since it's 20 bucks. For me, I've been craving a straight beat em up for a good while without seeing one that intrigued me enough to buy it; this one did the job. The only draw back I can see so far is you can do co-op, but it looks like it has to be done locally.


Also for me one of the best parts is if you buy the game and get into it, you really have to incorporate a good amount of the abilities you learn so that you can survive some of the bigger fights. At first I was just treating it like a button masher, but in some of the larger scale fights, I actually needed to utilize throw and area attacks to keep from getting my ass handed to me.

I downloaded the demo and thought it was bad ass. I haven't gotten the full game yet, but I will later today after I get some sleep. Go go Rorschach action!

The only complaint I really have about this game is it's short. I haven't completed it yet, but there's an achievement for beating the game in under 80min without restarting from a checkpoint. I don't think it's going to be easy by any means, but the fact that you can beat the game in under 80min is pretty plainly stating that this game isn't very long, and for $20 I think that's a big turn off. That being said I'm on the end of third chapter and it's still a blast so far.

You can beat MGS4 in 80 minutes and that is by no means 'short'. Its actually the largest game out there.

I really don't think I'll be getting it. I saw the making of it a while back and although they said they didn't want to go the typical movie -> game route it still looked a bit bland.

$20 is too much to ask for a game that can be beaten in under 80 minutes if you hurry? I've always been rather opposed to the extreme "time to beat = value" mantra, but honestly, this is a budget price. It's the cost of taking two people to the movies, or having a nice dinner for yourself somewhere, and both of those things won't last as long as a game you can revisit and play again without paying anything extra.

You said you're enjoying it, and that means it's worth the money you spent. So keep enjoying it. It doesn't have to suddenly grow to thrice its size to be worth your time.

I meant it's probably a turn off to other people who hadn't purchased it yet. I worded it poorly, but by no means am I turned off by it; this is better than some of the $60 games I've purchased recently.

Played the demo and it's really cool. Think when I'm bored and feel like dropping 20 bucks I'll pick it up, but I'm not dying to get it.
