New appearances, unlike ZNM gear. There were supposed to be some odd new designs in the works for a while, now.

OMG ADAMANTOISE POPPED AND WE'RE ONLY HALFWAY DONE WITH OUR TRAINING!!!!!!!!!!!!

The NMs seem interesting, think I'll synth a bunch of crap gear and offer it for the NM fights to see what happens.

Tu'Lia region FoVs seem interesting. However I doubt they'll get used much.

    Trading beastmen seals?

What about people who already traded them to the ncp for storage, or the ncp will give us a beastmen seals visa that we can use them on FoV

This actually sounds promising. I'm mildly impressed. Also, typing from an iPod touch while sitting infront of a computer is just sad. Go me.

Now they just need to add a FoV book in Dragon's Aery. People will fight over who gets to kill the darters first.

This sounds pretty interesting. FoV was a nice addition imo, so any improvements on it should be even spiffier. Can't wait for the .dat mining to start :O, although I doubt SE will release notable gear for endgame, more or less just newer casual play things.

They should have mentioned it in the update notes so that people would make more unrealistic expectations: "Omg books in Aery, Dominion and Valley! Maybe they'll let us pop Fafhogg with BS!?" :/

People don't try to open the locked ones unless the party has to rest, but yes, generally either Qufim Island parties fight near the manual, or kill their way back to it whenever the day changes. If the party does it as a whole, it's really hardly disruptive at all.

42 is a sticking point right now; it's the end of the line for Qufim FoV, but for many jobs, Beaucedine will still be too hard, and if you aggro an eye (one of which loves to flap all over the manual)...yum-o. I guess you could duo, but more zones will be a very welcome addition. I haven't tried Xarc FoV yet, but honestly none of the targets seem particularly appealing.

I found out that I can solo IT eyes on Pld/Dnc though :D.

I have a weird obsession with r/ex crap, so this might be cool. After getting my Rambler's Gaiters, there was really nothing else I wanted from caskets, maybe this'll change that...

You know the regen/refresh buffs you get, that last an hour?

Normally they last through like 3 or 4 FoV's if I flag one/chill out/afk/then zerg some with the day change method.

I had one day where no one was doing the higher FoV's where you kill bat eyes, so in a tiger/goblin one I aggroed two eyes, and before I finished the manual, the regen/refresh wore after the second eye, with like two tigers left. D:

Why are people making such a big deal out of the beastmen seal thing anyway? Are you seriously considering popping FoV NMs with seals to get more experience points? I'm willing to bet the NM will be the same regardless whether you pop it with seals, gil, or an item, just the reward from defeating it will vary.

From this, I gather that if you're popping the NM anyway, and you have some spare seals from xping anyway, toss them in the trade window.

In regards to Raithen's point, well, we don't know what the seal:xp ratio is yet. It's possible (likeliness unknown) that by trading more seals or more gear or whatnot we can somehow affect the NM's difficulty and increase the gains overall.

    and to this.

They try to make it seem like they are releasing a new AV type monster, but with no exp loss (which would be cool as hell, and no time limit), and to which any LS can pop (don't have to compete to claim it). I like the NM system but I don't think the NMs would be as hard as they say they will.
Then SE goes on to say the rewards are like nothing you ever seen before..
either they meant that they are brand new exclusive new items, or they are trying to fool us into thinking that their will be Mar's rings +1 in there lol.

Chalk it up to SE exaggerations again... or me mis-reading the topic.
Either way, I hope the NMs are hard as hell since they can popped easier now and no exp loss means people will put up a great fight against anything.
You can't possibly be this dumb. You have to be faking it.

    Conclusion:

OT: The general consensus with Treasure Caskets is that the items are useful when leveling but not great. Except! Herder's Subligar increases pet accuracy by an unknown amount. It might be very useful to BST, maybe SMN. Would people like to see more casket items as sidegrades to Artifact gear at a much lower level, or is including actually nice things in the TC system just adding a lame timesink?

It seems the addition of FoV NMs is a great thing, though, especially if it is ZNM-style gear.
