No sound in ffxi

Well, here's a retarded, probably easily fixed problem but I lack the knowhow or something to fix it. I use windower, have windows XP, and my sound works fine on everything else from my PC. Max sounds is set to 5, mip map set to 2, sound enabled. Think that's all that would affect it.

My sound was working fine in ffxi until a couple months ago when I must've done something and it just vanished, poof. Maybe it was reinstalling windower, or maybe something got screwed up in the registry. Neither music nor sound effects work - although I don't give a crap about the music, I do want the sound effects though. Anyone have any ideas? =/

I don't get sound effects, <calls> or the chime for the tells. I also installed the Blip sounds from the FFXIUIMod installer. And that too doesn't work. =(

I don't get any of that either, I have music, I just get no sounds like menu opening and calls or anything.

From looking at that, I went through the registry files and followed the line to the folder. The sound is enabled. But it still doesn't work in game. I'm guessing the only solution is to re-install FFXI. --;

Of all the dumb....

Ok so first check to see if its enabled in your registry files. And open up the windower GUI...

And if it says 0 where its circled in red, then thats the cause of the no sound. I changed it to 5 to see if it'd work and viola my sound works.


PS. Don't mind the over all resolution, I have a tiny Acer One laptop so the screen isn't that big to begin with. xP

If you use gui launcher it defaults to zero, think it's bottom right corner. Crank that on up to get more sounds :3

Well I turned my sounds to 15 and my mip maps to 0,

still nothing.

I don't understand what the fuck could be wrong with it. =/

I think I fixed it. I kind of forgot that windower gui doesn't help at all if you disable sound in the actual ffxi config (I didn't know it was disabled though). >.> Should have been the first or second thing I checked but I guess that just shows how much of a damn I really give...
