Settings Config Question

I came back from idle today, and my friend list + chat log were messed up so i went to relog. When i logged out, it said server error or some BS, so i reloaded FF. When I reloaded FF, all my config settings like windows/chat filters/etc were all reset. I reset a couple things then tried to fix my macro, and windower crashed. I rebooted my computer to see if that would help, and when i came back, the config settings reset again. I kept all my maros, but all the Books names reset, and my config all reset. Any suggestions?

Download macros from server. Manually adjust settings. Try again.

This exact same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. It sucked because I had my chat colors all different colors and had to reset them too.

All my macro books had their name reset but the macros inside we're still intact except for the macro book I was currently on at the time, which was Blue Mage. Those macro's got deleted. I just spent the next hour or so reconfiguring everything and moved on.

I have no idea what happened. just got kicked off game out of no where and came back to default config settings. @.@

Just to help out, if you want a hardcopy of your macroes and your map markers (the latter being what I kept losing if my computer went haywire.)

DRIVELETTER:\Installation Path\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER will contain a folder for each of your characters.

If you followed the defaults and only have one drive volume, for instance, this would be
C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER

The folders in \USER have weird alphanumeric names. If you only have one character, it's easy to find the right one. Otherwise you might have to click around a bit. Those folders contain .MRK and mcr.~files. The .MRK files are your map marker info.

Macro files are a bit more complicated now that they added the book system. If you want to copy everything, grab the whole folder. For just the macroes, get all the files that have mcr~ or nmcr~ regardless of file type (.dat .sys .ttl)

Does anyone know where the spell-menu ordering or font color settings reside? It's obviously not stored server side like bazaar comments, but I haven't ever found the files.

yea i jsut rest my colors and everytihng to close to what i had, i can tell a few are off, but ill live. I'm just a bit apprehensive (sp) about logging off and losing them all again...Also, i use windower macros, would SE flag that if i saved it to the server with my console exec...etc ?

I think you are safe if you log, I think the corruption happened with your disconnect.
