Unable to get past "Retrieving online status"

I've never had troubles connecting to POL ever before, which is why this is driving me insane. My last login was about 24 hours ago, but last evening I ran into this.

I try to log in and get stuck at online status... smacking me with a POL-0011. All of my other internet connections are 100% fine. I've restarted everything, I can get to playonline.com without issues. Disabled firewall (Norton) to see if that worked for whatever reason. Did a windows restore (Vista) to before the last updates were installed just to see if it anything at all. Reinstalled POL viewer and the same thing.

Again, never ever had any trouble connecting. I'm in the US with a pretty standard cable internet provider.

Any help would be... greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Self-Updated--

Despite not having changed a single thing in my router for months and the fact that it still wouldn't connect even when the router was bypassed... for some reason restoring the router factory settings then confused Windows into needing to repair an internet connection and made it work after that. Holy hell.

Edit: Nama posted! Nama~~ Uh, from what I learned, um............. er... bypass your router for a direct connection and windows create that connection map. I then restored factory router settings (hard reset) and put the network back together. Windows spotted a router that was new and in the Network folder both the router and a generic connection to it showed up. Right-clicked to enable the router and right-clicked the blank connection listed for a repair. Router was then fine but refused to access the web-- restarted cable modem and it somehow all magically worked.

In over a year this is the first actual problem I've had with the nuts-and-bolts of Vista. Sigh.
