WoW
FFXI
City of Heroes
Warhammer
Something New
Why is FFXI even up on that list? Should be listed as a method of torture rather than an MMO. : p
I love how people on a FFXI forum are telling the OP not to play FFXI anymore.
Wait for Aion.
Find something else more productive. If you want vydia entertainment, stay away from mmo. Simple as da.
I'd listen to the posters above me though. Playing an MMO is like one of the hugest timesinks you can experience in life.![]()
Darkfall go
eq2 was fun, played it for awhile but quit around when kunark came out.
the game is awesome, but from when I played, there seemed to have been such little amount of people playing. but that was awhile ago, from what i've heard it picked up quite a bit from the past expansions
Real talk.
I just started playing Guild Wars. It's quite fun and it's free to play (gotta buy it though, 9.99 on Newegg). You can play hard or you can play at a slower pace if you choose. There are a couple additional games that also work like add-ons (but can be played stand-alone) and there is one expansion. Deals heavily on skill combination rather than exping and gear (though it looks like the gear is important as well, not too sure, just started).
I got into WoW to play with friends and I'm really enjoying it, they aren't 80 yet but one is 40 and the other is 61. I've always liked WoW though, so I'd recommend it for sure.
EVE is fun but the idea of skills training over real time is totally shitty, imho. It really sets a bar that you can never hope to catch up to. In most MMOs, catching up is possible. In EVE, not so much, you can become good sure, but you won't ever catch up to someone who has been playing longer than you have. I'm waiting for Aion, should be fun, but I'm not expecting anything
amazing.
To the people saying MMOs are terrible, they're only terrible if you let them be. I've never had trouble playing an MMO and quitting or prioritizing my real life. I think if you have trouble with that then yeah MMOs aren't for you, but they aren't the evil some people would make them out to be, that's just the people who fail at life, by extension, failing at life further by playing MMOs. I find the idea of MMOs extremely intriguing and they offer a unique style of gameplay that you won't get in other game genres, so simply ruling them out altogether because some people can't balance them with real life, isn't fair at all.
Diablo2
and magus wtf!! come back to the darkside
You forgot the "MMOs are cancer to your social life" option.
Heh, when I saw this I was like "wtf a poll on what mmo to play on a ffxi forum!??!"
But FFXI from scratch is time consuming although the ep-dc exp update and FoV makes it more bearable.
Really depends on how much time you're willing to put into it imo.
I wouldn't touch FFXI at all if you wanna come back casually. Stick to a game that gives you decent rewards / returns even if you don't have 5 hours per night to dump in the game. Otherwise find yourself addicted and playing too long all over again. Trial the other NA based MMOs if you want to play an MMO, stay away from anything made in Asia (they put timesinks in the wrong places seriously), and better yet, just play online games rather than MMOs if you really don't wanna get back into the grind![]()
pretty much nailed it.
This is the only reason Im not going back to FFXI, regardless of the amount of accounts ppl offered me out of friendliness/quitting. I know its going to be at least 4 hours of sitting around and 45 min of killing every sea event, etc. Its not worth it in the long run as much as i hate to admit it, looking back now.
A lot of veteran FFXI players i know, go to WoW and dominate from what i hear since they're used to the difficulty on FFXI. Plus i know Blizzard has like.. the best customer service, right? At least i know it kills the SE customer service
