    PS2 and Dialup

Not quite sure if this goes here but thought I'd ask anyways. Recently a friend of mine sent me his old ps2, the thing is I only have dialup at my place. So my question, how do you set up the ps2 for dialup and get it running? Do you have to run a line through a computer that connects or can the ps2 connect directly? Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm pretty sure the PS2 requires a broadband connection. Tell your friend to join the 21st century

nope sorry ps2 can use dial up lol thats how i used to play

And since your used to using dial up only anyways, just plug in the phone line to the back of the Ps2 and make sure you have a dail up number from you service provider and all that good stuff from what i rember its slow but it works.

Yeah, when I first started to play FFXI, I didn't have broadband nor did I want to spend on it if I wasn't gonna like it. So a friend made me a dial up account and used it to log on. Wasn't that bad, well, only leaving the updates overnight ;x

I'm certainly used to doing updates overnight heh, been doing that on my pc's for years.

So i just need a phone jack from the ps2 to a wall jack, that's no problem, my next question is does the ps2 have a dialer or something?

    Thanks for the info.

Hated using dial up on PS2, invest in wireless.

It has one of those, i got my phone jack plugged in, tried setting it all up, it dialed in just fine but then it gave me an error message, something about my connection settings weren't set right, not exactly sure. There were all kinds of modem settings that i've never seen when setting up a pc modem.

Did you input your ISP's user name and password under the network settings in POL? If you select dial up it will ask you to add all that stuff. I didn't need to mess around w/ anything else IIRC.

Yeah I did, I'll keep playing around with it and see if I can figure it out. Thanks
