Which would win?
I say Hummer because its made of steel
friend says fiber glass semi would win carrying a full load behind it because of the momentum
head on at 70 mph
trying to make this into a poll but im a little dumb ;o

semi trucks are not made of fiberglass. maybe their body panels are, but body panels wouldn't be a consideration in a colision like this.
semi would wear the hummer like a hood ornament and keep rolling
F12 = -F21
ah nvm i didnt realize hat they werent fiber glass

not head on, but you get the idea
totally wrong impression about this thread.

semi would tear the hummer apart without question
Yeah, semi truck with a full payload behind it, all that momentum would squish the hummer a considerable amount. It would probably make the crumple zones built into the vehicle completely useless. The best you could hope for is that the engine forms a rudimentary stop, but without the bracing behind the car to keep the engine from pushing back against the inside compartment, it probably wouldn't work like that...
It's likely the hummer's driver wouldn't even survive the initial force of travelling at +70mp/h and then going to -70mp/h in under a second, that's a lot of stress to put a human neck through. Though I think you're referring to just general carnage, not loss of life.
Depends on the definition of "win".
The semi will have the higher momentum, and will take the hummer with it. The combined wreckage will continue in the direction the semi was headed, albeit slower.
Likewise, the driver of the semi will be safer than the driver of the hummer. The semi tractor will crumple more easily than the hummer's frame, and will absorb more of the energy of the impact. Not to mention that there is no direction change, unlike the hummer which will experience a more severe jolt and less of the energy is absorbed by the frame.
On the other hand, the hummer itself will be in better shape afterward than the semi. The damages to the semi tractor will be more severe and perhaps more costly to repair, if it isn't totalled outright. The trailer should be okay, though, although parts of the frame or axles may be bent which would be costly to fix.
But... what do repair costs matter when you're dead? I'd rather have a huge repair bill for the semi and be alive to pay it, than have a largely intact hummer and be dead.
The main problem with this question is that it's like asking: "A dragonforce-diamond-titanium alloy ball bearing vs a semi, who would win?"
F = MA
Semi driver is higher and safer then a driver in a hummer.
HARDEST METAL KNOWN TO MAN!"A dragonforce-diamond-titanium alloy ball bearing vs a semi, who would win?"
The hummer: 4672kg x 31m/s = 144832 N
The semi: 7938kg x 31m/s = 246078 N
The semi wins.
You're forgetting miracles though. Physics can't account for those.
i had to make sure i wasn't in spam when i saw this thread![]()
Not a fair fight. School buses are made of magic.
Depends on the semi and depends on the hummer.
Honestly, why would you even think the Hummer would come out on top? Did you even take high school physics?
Title is misleading.
I can't believe this is even questioned. This is like comparing a bike to a car.
