Maybe he just means that the orb has different data attached to it after it is used, so he can't tell if the guy used it then dropped it or not. (obviously without searching through chat logs...)

That's what I'm thinking. You can't tell the difference between an orb that has been used and an orb that hasn't been used without trading it to a BC -- that's the internal data he is referring to. I would imagine a GM has the same issue, therefore he can't replace it.

I don't understand why you keep the orb after the trade at all. It seems so pointless. Why does it have to stay in the traders inventory after they enter the BC?
