Any possible solutions for the avatars?
Any possible solutions for the avatars?
Replace your avatars with crabs.
Avatars don't bug me when there's just one...but my FPS goes to crap when there's 3+ onscreen. While crabs would work, I've been meaning to look into the enemy avatar dats instead. I've never noticed a problem when we pull the SMN house in Dynamis...
But what kills framerate faster for me are the telepoints...
Telepoints are the DEVIL
I replaced my telepoints with homepoint crystals lol.
Anyone knw how to actually increase performance?? My system is
Intel Core i7 920
3 GB Ram
Nvidia GTX 285
182.06 WHQL Driver
Playing on:
1920x1080 resolution with the same background resolution...
The game barely uses 10% of my CPU during intense gameplay but I am getting like 10-15FPS at like AH or in like Dynamis with a lot of people on screen :/ Anyone getting better performance with the same setup? Any tips for increasing performance?
I had this issue with another link the other day, but I figured out just to delete the subforum directory in the URL, so that:

and it works.Code:http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/44238-how-i-get-my-screenshots-look-way-they-do.html
No problem with avatars but duststorms and telepoints really do kill me bad. Anyone have any ideas? GeForce 8600GT / core2 duo, shouldn't lag at all but I have to blame the port from PS2 to PC for being incredibly sloppy and inefficient with video lag.
Still if there is a way to mitigate telepoint/duststorm lag I would love to know.
Full shadows in campaign is pretty much the only thing that drops me below 30fps(and the occasional hiccup when running and a massive part of the map loads from having super high draw distance).
FFFFF Here's hoping Rapture isn't horribly inefficient on PC. lol
It's not you, those fuck my shit up no matter what pc I'm on. I turn weather off always though.
Edit: I was playing with some of this stuff, and when I try to bump up my graphics using the windower GUI it says "This registry key does not exist." then it launches the windower in the overlay I want, but the BG Reso is still 1024x1024 it looks like in the ffxi config file (It won't let me put that any higher in the actual config one.) Why is it giving me this? I am on 64 bit vista.
The registry location for FFXI on 64 bit is not in the usual spot, so the GUI won't work. The "usual" spot puts the options in the 64 bit section of the Registry (which is the exact path it used to be on 32 bit). The thing with 64 bit OS is theres a seperate subtree for 32-bit registries where FFXI will read its values from.
I forget the exact path and I'm at work so I can't check, but basically you're editing false values.
That's odd, typically it works just fine for me as long as you check the 64 bit checkbox. If I happen to forget to do that then it'll give me the error message of which you speak. Also, interestingly enough, that's one of the options that doesn't get saved with the profiles you can create for the GUI windower. You have to select it each time you load it. 'Course, editing the registry and then just using the nongui loader works just fine too, and then you don't have to worry about the silly little checkboxes, neh?
I haven't ever run into any slowdown issues other than an occassional hiccup in WG on FFXI using my setups, once I get my 'net back I'll put up my options and maybe that'll help? Using my little eeePC at Borders for netsurfing atm so can't really post that right now. Hopefully have the 'net at my new apartment within a week or so.
Halp.
Here's a sheet with my card on it, which field should I be looking at?
GeForce 8800
That's the maximum display resolution.
The maximum texture size for most newer nvidia cards is 4096x4096 last time I checked (2048x2048 for ati), although I'm trying to confirm this is still the case.
The best way to tell is to check your DX9 caps.
DirectX Caps Viewer will tell you your max texture size for your card (DirectX Graphics Adapters -> (your card) -> D3D Device Types -> HAL -> Caps -> MaxTextureWidth/Height
Edit: Downloaded the (500meg!) DirectX SDK from microsoft.com, extracted and put the 32 and 64 bit versions of DXCapsViewer up on my web site, so I know they're safe copies.
