Iota ring is good only if all your job is 2-hander. I'd wear ulthalam over iota on any 1-hander. Also, my g.axe war/sam uses an ecphoria for 6-hit build.

Shit's situational so own both and cover your basis. I cap out at ACC for bird camp, I've been told I overshoot my ACC too, so bottom line the extra +2 ACC wouldn't do shit for me either, where as something like Iota might have a chance to push my crit tier up.

I guess that's the difference between good player and crap ones. The crap ones go for gear that's only good in ... merit party .. on bird camp. The good ones have their inventory filled with 70 items that they can use anywhere. I mean def -12 is so much better than agi+3 dex+3 vit+3 in dynamis and 75% of endgame event you'd do on SAM. The only exception would be Einherjar, lol-hnms, sea farming etc. But then, sniper+1 is probably the 3rd best option at best doh.

The gear-criticizers are saying that a player who is acting in an economically rational manner will purchase items in order from most efficient to least efficient. The anti-gear-criticizers claim that making one large increase in strength (non relic → relic) is more important or useful than any number of small increases (NQ → HQ in other slots) since the relic guy can afford to do either, or both, so they might as well go for the large upgrade first.

The gear-criticizers are correct. But congrats on the relic anyway.

By that logic I should have gotten a Sniper's +1 for my MNK over Usukane body, just because the Sniper's +1 was cheaper.

That logic fails on so many levels. Just because you scrimp and save for years to get a relic doesn't mean you have gil falling out of your ears.

Amano is a clear and strong upgrade. Sniper's +1 over pretty much any other option is a marginal upgrade.
