    sending macros to friends

Ok so me and a friend play each others account fairly regularly, and I was wondering if there was a way to know which folder held your macros for a single character. I don't want to copy the whole user folder over because obviously it would delete our own macros. Is it even possible to do what I want to do? I need halp

Well your USER folder in Playonline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER should have a folder for each character you've logged onto on your PC with a nonsense number and letter combination name like acb1234 or def5678. Inside each of those folders you have .dat files that start with "mcr" and run from mcr.dat to mcr199.dat depending on how many macro books/lines you're using. It's the mcr files that have your actual macros, to find out which of the folders belongs to which character start opening the mcrs in Notebook and checking out which ones have familiar information in them. If it's a mule account it won't have many mcr.dats because you won't have made any macros for a mule so you can skip those, in fact most mules will only have one mcr.dat file in that folder, the default macros that SE gives you when you start off. If it's your main character it will probably have quite a few mcr files so start with going through those folders first (the file mcr.dat is the first line of your first macro book and then they count down from there to mcr199.dat). When you open the mcr.dat in Notebook just scroll to the right until you see some text, some of it may look like gibberish but you'll eventually come across something familiar.

Once you know which folder links to which character, note it down or memorize it because it'll be handy to know later on if you make changes to your macros.

And yeh, uploading macros to server works but if you use windower macros do so on your own risk. Oh and also if you use windower macros don't forget to send your friend the scripts.

If you've a number of mules/alts/people who you've dualboxed, a handy way of figuring out which of the letter+number combinations is which character (and thus macros/filters/etc.) is Altanacubby. Random little app that'll let you see what's on a character in inventory/locker/safe/storage since your last login. If nothing else, helps cut down muling time if you can't remember where you put something.
