I always thought the rule was that you use months until they are two. After that, it's acceptable to go by years. I remember hearing this debate before somewhere.

Below that I have my Norton Critical ed. works including Paradise Lost, Faust, War and Peace, Heart of Darkness, Moby Dick, and more, along with the Borders collection of Shakespeare's works, The Divine Comedy, Horror Classics, Jules Verne works, HG Wells works:

This is my history/science shelf. The Nazi sign is The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, some classic history books about ancient Greece/Rome. The dust jacket on the CDs is for Fabric of the Cosmos by Briane Greene, which I'm currently reading when I have time outside of my studies to do so. Also here are things like the Art of War, The Once & Future King, Band of Brothers, etc.
