Don't you have an SLI setup though, I'd think it gets unbearably loud up on your desk like that? Maybe it's because I have the external exhaust version of my card, but it's really loud even under my desk when it's going full tilt.

The sound really is no different above or below my desk, but I have better exhaust this way. The mobo is rotated 90degrees so everything shoots out the top, so instead of having heat trapped under my desk it's thrown right to my ceiling. Plus these are the 500 series from nvidia and they run much quieter than the 400series.

And good choice of heatsink. I prefer big air on my cpu if the dba is low enough. I actually switched from a H70 push pull to this and got better temps and less noise. There is only 1 or 2 other air heatsinks that are comparable and the one would cause clearance issues. Easy choice for me.

I was going to go FULL water, but I decided to go with this case for superior noise dampening and positive pressure. My biggest gripe is noise, and even if I went on water I'd still have to have fans and noise somewhere. I may still put my gpu's on water eventually, but we'll see. I realistically have no reason to at this point in time. I'm getting 60fps+ in every game I play at 2560x1600, without really needing to up clock speeds or fan speed.

How'd you rotate it 90 degrees? Are ATX boards equal dimensions L and W or is the case just that spacious?

It's how the case is designed. The mount is rotated so that everything points up instead of back, air comes in from the bottom of the case and flows out the top.

Thanks, Boyiee and nah, I was legitimately curious about the kors because I'd been looking to get one and had been waffling between that and a kleen kanteen. The kanteens don't seem practical if I'm sipping on cold water all day, though, because of the temperature of the aluminum and the moisture.

Oh in that case, definitely try KOR

1) I put non-water in there a few times (yoli) and the plastic seal molded a little bit... KOR sent me a new one

2) My fiance dropped hers and cracked the lid... when I emailed them they were very concerned it was a defect and would replace it for free... but I was honest and told them she dropped it and they still sold us a replacement for 50% off.

I have a couple kleen kanteens and other steel bottles. They are alright, I like cold water and they stay cold, but condensation is a bitch.

Didn't know about Kors, buying that shit asap lol.

Hmm, if they're really that much quieter maybe I'll upgrade. I currently have a 460, and the sound is the only thing about my computer I'm unhappy with.

on that heatsink, ya, I've heard most get better results than the H70. I researched quite a bit before I got it since I plan on keeping this cpu a long time and wanted the best.
It's hard to appreciate just how giant it is until you hold it though, heh.

I had modded the h70 as well and put shrouds on it as well as way better fans, still was a piece of shit.

There are some charts out there on maybe hardforum or overclock.net, or really anything you google that should show you some noise levels/temps of the 500series compared to other cards.

Just a different option, I'm not sure which is "better" given the different advantages. The totes for kanteens seem like a good solution for the condensation and they're a lot less likely to dent than a KOR would be breaking, but the KOR has a nice flip-cap that seals when shut so you don't have to worry about sealing and unsealing a kanteen to drink from and prevent spills. Kanteen has different caps to use but I'm not crazy about the sports-cap thanger.

I like the style of both so it's hard to choose.

I didn't even realize this thread had become unstickied until someone mentioned it. Meh. I don't really have anything new to showoff, my setup is still the same and I'm greatly enjoying it. It has gotten messier though since the last set of pictures. I'm also impressed that with the TV - 9 months now without needing a new bulb. Old TV was only about 6 months of time.
